ND filter - where to buy locally?

I need a bit of help. I packed my camera stuff for my upcoming trip and for the life of me can't find my ND8 filter! I found the ND4 and the ND1000 but not the ND8. I know I will need it for fireworks. I am leaving Thursday morning and none of the stores here carry it in either 67 or 72mm which is what I would need. Can anyone tell me where I'd be able to pick one up locally in the States? Best Buy? Walmart? Target? I'll be in SF until Monday (in case someone knows a store locally) and then in Anaheim from that point on. I'm really desperate and kicking myself for not checking on that damn filter earlier!

If I can't find one locally, I'll have to use the cheapo variable filter I got once. Problem with it is I have serious vignetting plus there's no pointer for the scale so I never know where I am currently at between ND4 and ND400. I rather not rely on that for the new fireworks.

Order it from Amazon with 2 day delivery to your hotel....

Or honestly, there is just 1 stop of difference between the ND4 and the ND8. You really should be ok with the ND4... stop the aperture down 1 extra stop further than you planned.

I only have one night only for fireworks hence I rather stick with what I usually use than try something new. Last time I used a ND4 I pretty much always blew the highlights...

I'm staying at a Super8 in both SF and Anaheim - I am not sure I want something delivered there. If I'd stayed at a hotel, I sure would have sent it there. I will look at Amazon though - hadn't even thought of that. Maybe I can find a cheap non-variable filter. If it doesn't get there, I won't lose much.

Do you have a polarizer with you? That's worth another stop and a half or so (yes, I know that stacking filters is not the best thing to do but it works ok if they are good ones). :)

I agree with the above poster..order from amazon and have it shipped to your hotel. I did this with another item and it was very convenient. Another option maybe Kingdom Camera Rental..not sure if they rent filters only but it may be worth a shot. They are local and very good to work with.

Bob, I do have a polarizer. It never leaves my bag. The ND4 and the polarizer are both Hoya filters. I stacked the ND4 and ND8 (all Hoya) once (before I had my ND1000) and I had a vignetting problem until about 24mm because they are not slim filters :guilty: So stacking isn't really an option. I did order one from Amazon though, shipping to the Super8 at Anaheim. Let's hope it makes it there. I am also taking the cheap variable filter as backup which apparently only shows vignetting when you are around max setting. I think I may have lost the ND8 at around shooting fireworks at Sydney harbor.....

Luvscrappin, I am heading to Disneyland, not WDW. Sadly no Kingdrom Rental there :( Otherwise I would have left half my equipment at home and just rent from them.
