NCL Pearl passenger reported missing

THis is really sad...I have not heard any news of this as of yet.

Just saw this on yahoo news...

Jeanne,
I found you! It's Popster here!
I was looking for info on the missing passenger and came upon your post. It caught my attention as I will be on that ship in April. It's such a tragedy when something like this happens, and yet very curious. It seems to me that it is nearly impossible to just fall overboard unless there is more to the story......foul play or just plain stupidity.....either way it's very sad.
Anyway, I just wanted to say hello to you and the family. Take care and come visit us again on the Navigator board.

Hey Paul, how funny...I can run but I cannot hide!!:teeth: By the way, welcome to the DIS!! :welcome: (even it was kind of by accident;) ).

I was on our NN thread yesterday but was only quickly skimming and didn't post (I know...slap my hand:blush: ).

I haven't read anything since yesterday about this story but someone posted on cc that they had just recently been on the Pearl and they even commented while they were cruising that there was no way someone could accidently fall overboard on that ship. Definitely a very sad story, I only hope they get to the bottom of it.

Mind that one whre the man chucked his wife over board??
When and who was that??
It is scary is it not?
One day I never seem my 12yo dn for around 6 hours, I started to panick!!
what if?? she was 100 miles up the coast?:confused3 just me being mad!

This link has some very interesting and disturbing info regarding this incident

I was so sorry to hear of this on local news - they reported she was from Winter Haven. :guilty: It is just so sad.

From local (Orlando) news:

Neighbors of Jennifer Seitz, 36, said they were shocked and saddened to hear she had disappeared from a cruise ship.

Sunday, neighbors confirmed to Channel 9 it was Seitz of Winter Haven, who disappeared from the Norwegian Pearl, while it was sailing in the Western Caribbean.

Seitz and her husband had sailed out of Miami.

The U.S. Coast Guard says surveillance video aboard the ship shows a woman falling overboard, around 8 o'clock Christmas night.

Her husband reported her missing Friday morning.

The Coast Guard said the video was used to set up a search point in the ocean near Cancun, Mexico.

Neighbors in Winter Haven told Channel 9 Seitz and her husband lived with Seitz's mother, and that her mother rushed to Miami the instant she heard her daughter had disappeared.

The FBI is investigating, and agents have said little, other than they are working to rule out both foul play and suicide.

So far, search teams have covered more than 2,500 square miles, despite strong waves and bad weather conditions.

Since 2002, more than two dozen passengers have been reported missing from various cruise ships.

...that "foul play" is at hand here??? MMNNNNNN... going to be interesting how this plays out. Not trying to "start something"....just one's opinion here.

:confused3 Just saw this on The Early Show. It took them long enough to report it.

Coincidentally, there was a show on the Travel channel on Saturday about the Pearl cruising in Alaska.

yeah, that show wasnt that great either....Samantha Brown is so much better than the host they featured.....

One has to wonder why it took him 8 hours to report her missing! This was reported on the Today Show this morning.

Yes, I think if my DH was missing for an hour I would have alerted someone....would have looked in the casino though first.

Anyway, this is truly sad, whether its foul play or suicide, so sad, Christmas, this poor woman:(
How does a man not report his wife...missing for 8 hrs....?! Makes you wonder as pp stated!

I said the same thing to DH, we watched it yesterday and a cruise review just isn't the same without Samantha Brown as the host.

Not trying to excuse the long delay of the husband reporting her or anything . .

I have the habit of "wandering around" during the night when I have trouble sleeping. I have on past (Disney) cruises gotten dressed and walked around on the upper decks in the early early morning hours. DH and I worked the deal that I always leave a post-it note on the bathroom mirror with time I left and what deck I'm heading for. This way I don't have to wake him up to let him know I'm going. And he gets at least a couple of hours sleep without me tossing and turning to bug him. ;)

Interesting thing is that usually by the time I am making a 2nd lap of the deck I "pass" a ship officer that asks if everything is okay. I got one of them laughing when I said when I said it was either come walk the deck at 2 a.m. or smother my husband with a pillow for snoring so loud.

It was reported on tv yesterday that she and her husband were wild and partiers, and that he'd been seen with other women.

They might have had an "open" relationship, leaving the husband to think she was just in another cabin for the night. :rolleyes1 Not my cup of tea, but possible.
