Can anyone tell me what the Navigators Verandah's are like and what you liked or disliked about them? I usually stay in a cat. 6 but was trying to save a few dollars for an upcoming cruise in May. Thanks!

We unfortunately just gave up "Secret Verandah" room 7620 for the September 12 Magic sailing to Tortola. This is one of the four Navigators verandahs that have only a slight 'obstruction' and have a clear wall. This is virtually the same cabin as the one next door which is a cat 5. These are a terrific bargain if you book early. (I think the fare is now almost $1,600 more than what we booked it for.)

Indeed it's different than a full verandah, but we still enjoyed it. For as much time as we were in the room on our 7-day voyage, it really was perfect, and I think worth the savings. What we enjoyed most about it was that we could go out there to smell the sea air anytime as well as get pictures and video of islands we visited as we approached or departed without having to go up to Deck 9 or 10.

If you like to sit out there for a period of time, you will likely be disappointed because you really can't see too much if you're sitting down. However, if you just want to spend a few minutes staring at the beauty or get a little break from any hyper activity in the room, this is perfect! I would indeed book a Cat 7 again!

Here's a picture I took looking out on Castaway Cay from the port side of the ship while docked. Keep in mind that the Wonder has a more oval-shaped opening with a broader view than the Magic's circle.

SO sorry to hear that, Jeff! It's so nice of you to let DISers know they might be able to grab a great find though. :)

Oh, so sorry to hear you won't be crusing with us. :sad1: I let the gang on the meets thread know. Perhaps there is someone with a Cat 7 who can try and transfer over to 7620.

This is the cabin I have booked for next year's west bound TransAtlantic and was so happy that I could grab it!

There are pictures of each of the stateroom categories in the FAQ thread linked below in my signature under STATEROOMS and the Virtual Stateroom Tour.

Thanks for the kind thoughts. We were really sad to have to cancel, but we felt it was best for DS5. We reserved the 9/12 cruise the same day that these dates became available for booking - probably more than a year and a half ago. At that time, we had no idea what the school schedule would be, but now we know that we'd have to take our son out of school just two weeks into the school year. He never really warmed up to Pre-K so we just felt too guilty taking him out, wondering if we'd be making things even more difficult for him.

There was no way to re-book for an earlier date now that the pricing has gone through the roof, so we're going to try (gulp) Carnival Legend on August 2-9 which sails right from our 'back yard'. We'll just keep an open mind and try to enjoy it. We already know it will never be the same as DCL, but we got a great Aft balcony for thousands less than it would be to re-book DCL.

We're thinking we will be back with Disney when the new ships go into service.

We also had one of the "partially obstructed" verandahs and loved it. I wouldn't hesitate to book the navigator's verandah. I see it as the perfect way to save some money!

Here are a couple photos from our last cruise of our Cat. 7 room on the Magic (#6136). I have read that the portholes on the Wonder are more oval and a little larger. The room was offered as a free upgrade from a Cat. 9. We were so thankful for the upgrade, having a verandah was a nice touch.

I have friends who prefer the navigator's verandah because it is more private. Never stayed in one, but have stayed in a white wall verandah. Husband prefers white wall to clear...says he feels more secure.
