Hi,

I am going on the Wonder April 25th, first time on Wonder, been on Magic twice, excited about seeing the Wonder. My question is when in Naussa I want to do my own excursions. Can you suggest any public beaches that are nice? Called Comfort Suites and their rate was $200.00 for a day. I like Atlantis, but not $200.00. The slides are not worth $200.00. Thanks

There is a public beach. Just ask your taxi driver to take you to the "public beach". Barb has reported doing this and that it's very nice.

A little more detail on the public beach:
It is right near Atlantis. Technically, all of the beaches on Paradise island are "public," and you can easily walk down to the Atlantis beach area from what is commonly known as the "public beach." However, you would not be allowed to use their beach chairs.
The cab ride is $4 to $5 per person each way, and you should have no trouble finding a cab to get home, although you may have to wait a little bit until it is full. Nassau drivers don't like to leave until their van resemble a clown car...more bodies will climb out at the port than you ever could have imagined would be in there.
There are vendors on the public beach (drinks, trinkets, hair braiding), but a polite "no thanks" will dissuade them.

Since you've been on the Magic you know that routine. We didn't care for the beach on Paradise Island - pretty but surf was strong and leary of the drop-off. How about checking the excursions being offered from DCL and just get a taxi to the same spot? We paid $4 -$5.00 for each person, each way. If you're just looking for a tan on that day - I'd stay on the ship the next time. I was, personally, not impressed. Once I got to Castaway Cay I was all better.

All I can say about Nassau is BE CAREFUL. Me and my two kids rented a jet ski on the beach in front of Atlantis. We paid $40 for a half hour. We simply cruised around the water in front of the beach. When we returned, the locals who rented us the jet ski said we did some damage to the jet ski and asked what we hit out there. Well we hit nothing, The jet ski had patches all over it and it had obviously been throuhg a few hard rides. It was my own fault for being the trusting soul I am, but after about 1 1/2 hours of aurguing with about 10 of these guys and many threats to me and my children, I finally paid the $60. I was thinking of just walking away without paying, but they said the police were on their way and not to leave. I didn't want to put my kids in any danger and $60 was not worth hanginh around any longer. So to make a long story short. Be careful in Nassau on your own. I would personally never get off the ship there again. The boat is too nice and Nassau is not.

That's the second horror story I've heard about renting jet-skis at Nassau. Barb has a horror story about an experience that Tony had. I'd definitely not rent a jet-ski at Nassau.
