I got one too, but am worried reading some of the side effects people speak of.... maybe I should try one at home first to see how it affects me? Did you put your's on the night before you embarked, or did you put it on once on the ship?

Yes, the scopolamine patch is very potent medication. Side effects can range from very mild (dry mouth) to serious (disorientation and vision problems). Yes, you can give it a "trial run" before your cruise.

My husband used the patch on our first couple of cruises, because he's highly motion sensitive. By our 4th cruise (which was very smooth), he was having more issues with the side effects than the actual motion sickness. So he took it off after about 4 days, and switched to sea bands and an occasional Bonine on the really rocky sea days. That seems to work fine for him now.
