Looking for ideas for natural (easy to make) Christmas tree garlands. I have used cranberries and popcorn in the past. I like using the natural garlands because I know I can toss them at the end of the season & don't have to worry about untangling garland each year when we put up the tree. :cool1:

Does anyone have other suggestions or ideas for pretty and/or nice smelling natural garland? I'm not particularly good at arts & crafts, so something easy is best. ;)

I'd love to do something with cinnamon sticks, but I'm worried about cost, and I also am not really sure how to do this.

What about peppermint candy garland? Take the wrapped peppermints- and tie them together with riboon?

I am going through a fabric roses phase so I am thinking of trying to make a garland like that- but it would be reusable as it takes a bit to make them.

These are cool ideas - I bet I could do the cinnamon sticks tied together like in the picture for the Disney ideas.

Cinnamon sticks will get very expensive, but if you use little tree twigs and intersperse some cinnamon, you'll get a nice effect at a much more reasonable cost.

Also, dried citrus slices can be pretty and smell nice. Slice up oranges, limes, or lemons and let them dry out (can speed that up in the oven) and string them with popcorn, cranberries, etc.

Thanks for this - I was actually thinking of doing some dried orange slices mixed with cranberries and then maybe a few cinnamon sticks.

You're welcome. We used to make whole orange ornaments for the tree when I was a little kid. My mom is a real crafter. You stick whole cloves into an orange in different designs and then hang it somewhere to let it dry. They get lighter as they dry out. Then they are nice ball ornaments.

How long in the oven and what temperature?
