I've read lots of posts about the CC but what about the debit card? Is it readily accepted?

Thanks

would use to get cash from an atm,you get same rate as cc ($2.027 at moment)you can withdraw from fee free machines like publix or from disneys atms about $2-$3.limit is the same as what you can withdraw overhere so if limit £300 you can take out $600

Do any/many shops, restaurants or hotels accept it? Thanks

No different to any other credit/ bank card.
But do many places accept UK debit cards? I've only ever used my visa/Amex/mastercard in the US before, so I am a little clueless about whether switch, maestro (or whatever the nationwide card is) will be accepted.

Yes, I appreciate that. However, it is not very convenient to have to keep searching for cash machines and there is also the chance of loosing the cash. I'd prefer the ease of being able to pay with the card (if that is possible).

Hi oceanscape

We used ours the last twice we have been. Yes you can use them in the shops just like a credit card and get cash from ATM's. All you have to remember is that you have sufficiant funds in your account otherwise the bank will charge you overdraft rates. You can contact Nationwide before you go and have an overdraft authorised if you think you may go into the red. We have both Credit and debit cards. Credit card is the just in case card!!!!

Hope this helps

The Nationwide debit card is a Visa that can be used wherever you see the Visa sign :thumbsup2

Hi there

We have never been charged for not using it. Although we do use the debit card account as a savings account for our holidays and we put money into it every month. The only time we take money out is when we are paying for holidays and using the card on our hols (sometimes this can be 18 months to 2 years inbetween)
