I decided late Thursday to visit my college freshman daughter in the Orlando area for Family Weekend at her school. I got a reasonable rate for a Friday to Sunday intermediate car rental, used Emerald Aisle to speed the selection process, and crossed my fingers that cars would be available.
I arrived mid-afternoon on Friday and walked over to the garage to pick a car. The Emerald Aisle had about ten intermediate cars. Four were brand spanking new Chevy Malibu's (new body style, not the old "Classic" model) and another couple were Dodge/Mitsubishi coupes. I asked the National person and he mentioned they were receiving about a dozen new cars a day to replenish the fleet. So the National rental went off without a hitch. Ditto on the Sunday return. The Emerald AIsle was still about a third full of cars on Sunday morning.
The Alamo aisles were totally full both days, unlike National which were about one-third full. Maybe the bad press on here has reduced the demand?
