I know this has been posted a million times, but make sure you keep checking your car rental rates. Mine dropped today, saving me about $30. I have a reservation with National. Emerald Reserve, for a minivan for 1/14 - 1/21, for a grand total of $208.45, with all taxes and fees. This is using the Priceless Code and the Entertainment coupon. This is down about $60 from when I first booked it back in October.

Oh my gosh!!! My 10 day rental the middle of January just dropped $62 dollars!!! Thank you so much for telling me this!!! Yippee! :cheer2:

WOW!

Our minivan dropped from $242 (8 days) all the way down to $189 (total cost).

Thank you.

What are your dates peacefulgirl? And what car class are you booking?

Mine just dropped again - the second time today! Now it's down to 179.74 (total) for a minivan for a week!

I thought peacefulgirl was later on like April or something, though I could be wrong.

THe lower rates are basically for Jan and maybe Feb. I have a ressie in June that isn't moving, but it will as June comes closer. YOu just have to be patient!

Thanks for the reminder...I kept checking before and my weekend rate wouldn't budge...until this morning. I saved $8. Hey, it's gas $ :bounce:

We just booked BCV 1/17-1/21. I can't decide if a car rental is the way to go. The prices are GREAT!

I have the entertainment coupon, do you need anything for the priceless part when you pick up the car? Thanks!!!!

Thank you. I just knocked another $6.00 off my rate. Every little bit helps.

Well, it did knock about $3 off my rate, but for that amount I'd rather not book a new one and cancel the old one. I'll keep watching for real savings as the day approaches.

Thanks! I just switched our reservation for Jan 2-14 from intermediate to full size and saved a buck over my original EA reservation. If I had stayed with intermediate it would have been a twenty dollar savings but I'd rather get a full size for sure. :D

book it now and then cancel if you decide you don't want it. that way you will lock in the low price. no penalty for cancelling as long as you do it more than a few days in advane.

It knocked $5 off mine for Jan 13-23 with Priceless and Ent coupon. Not worth rebooking, but I'll keep watching in case it drops more.

What exactly is their cancellation policy? I couldn't find it ANYWHERE on their website.

TIA

After some searching on their site, I found it:

"No-show

National Car Rental may charge a fee for vehicles that are reserved but not rented, if the reservation is not canceled 24 hours prior to anticipated arrival.
No-show fees will be billed to the credit card given at the time of reservation."

So, as long as you cancel more than 24 hours in advance, you'll be fine.

This is more of an issue for Emerald Club members than others booking rental reservations on the web, since EC members have provided credit card information when they signed on. Otherwise, the National web site doesn't require a credit card to make a reservation.
