I reserved a car for our 2/11 - 2/18 trip through Emerald Aisle and got a rate I can live with (although I'll keep trying).

Yesterday, I checked the same dates and used a Priceless Vacations code. The base rate and discount were essentially the same as what I had before, but with Priceless, there was no "Concession Fee Recovery Charge." That saves about 10% on the total cost.

Has anyone else seen this? I've got both reservations saved for now, but I'll cancel one. Is the Priceless rate a mistake that I should expect to see recovered when I go to get my car if I use that reservation?

the Priceline reservation is good. You will not be charged more. Priceline seems to have an arrangement to not have the fee put on the ressie.

I have used the Pirceline code fro the last few trips with no problem.

Thanks Ed. I'm glad to see someone else has safely used the Priceless Vacations code.

I used a code from Carlson Wagonlit Travel and got a great rate with National for our trip in July 2005. But I noticed that under the "Rates - Time & Distance" section it has 1 Variable. Does anyone know what that means? When I made the reservation with a different code it doesn't have this. Can anyone help? Is this a good code?

I used this last year. When I got my receipt, each day of the week was listed and a rate next to each day. In my case, it was the same all the days of the week. By "variable" I think it means it may vary by day.

I used it in May without problem. Somehow, I think this code is considered a corporate rate and they don't charge the fee. My company used to have a corporate rate and we didn't pay the fee either.

We just used it earlier this month, it worked fine and they didn't ask for any paperwork. I was also able to combine it with a coupon fo $ 20 off from AARP, even though the coupon said to use a different code.

I actually called the national 800# and asked (last august) about "varible". I thought maybe it will change? After your there? Etc... Didn't feel to sure about it. The national representative said, "it was a special, given to that company, for so many days" like for 4 to 7 days the price is $XXX.XX Its just a set price, for them only. Not sure if I'm explaining this right, but it is a fixed price, won't change, and its just set for that company and its a special rate.

The Priceless Vacations Contract ID 6600330 is one of the hottest codes people use because they can save the concession fee. Anyone can use it. I have a car reserved with that code for June.

I also used the Carlson code 5760339 in August and it is also a good one. IT actually gives a bigger discount to me for my trip in June but the concession fee brought it higher than Priceless.

I would have no worries with either. Look at it this way. I was so confident (or totally ignorant) that I reserved my father in law a car under the Carlson code. In the end, he got a great price and was not asked for anything. Thanks for shopping with National sir..... have a wonderful vacation!

Thanks for the responses. I feel better about using that code now. I just think that $154.46 (we're also using Entertainment coupon) is a great rate for the week that we'll be there, and I wanted to make sure that they wouldn't raise the rate. Thanks for your help!:)

For our National rental during spring break we saved huge using the Amex code-it is also one of these "variable" rate ones.

I've used both the Carlson and the Priceless codes many times, in several airports other than MCO, and they have worked every time. Keep trying to get that rate for Feb down, as the time nears the rates will drop, but you are right, it seems to be OK,not terrific, but I bet it drops! When you check to see if the price improves, do it by making a new reservation, NOT by modifying your current reservation. This seems to bypass a cookies situation AND keeps you from unintentioanlly losing your current price. And don't worry- even if their prices increase, this is what they have quoted you and what they will honor, as long as nothing on the ressie changes.
