Looking into renting from national for next month, couple of questions...
Do you have to join the Emerald Club to get to choose your own car? and
I've found a rate of $422 (total) for a minivan, including an additional driver, for 8 nights...does this sound like a good rate?
TIA

I think that sounds like a good rate. The lowest I have seen them in two years of watching minivans is $199/wk. I got lucky with that rate last January, but I booked about 8 months earlier. You might want to check their last minute specials. I've seen that rate come up periodically.

You don't have to join the Emerald Club to pick your own car. If you specifically rent a minivan, you just got to the minivan aisle and pick whichever minivan you want. They also have the Emerald Aisle, where you reserve a midsize and can choose from any car on the Emerald Aisle. It's guaranteed to be a midsize or larger, and you MIGHT get lucky and find a minivan or SUV. There's a thread titlesd "What's on the Emerald Aisle" or something like that and you can see what people are finding.

If you join the Emerald Club you will get an additional 10% off your reservation and they might send you a coupon by email for $40 off a weekly rental. If you decide to sign up after making your reservation, just call them and give them your Emerald # and they will apply the discount. I you get the coupon after making the reservation, just call and they will apply the coupon, too.

I reserved a minivan through National for 7 nights, and my quote is $433.96 total...so I think yours is a good rate. My dates are 9/4-9/11, which means we will pick up the van during Labor Day weekend. Maybe that's why my rate it is higher than yours - you are getting an extra day for less than my rate. What codes are you using?

Also, does anyone know the typical minivans that are on that aisle? The reservation says Dodge Caravan or similar. Do they usually just have the Caravan or is it a mix of different makes?
