National - book standard but select from midsize?

I am an Emerald club member with National. If I book a standard car but see something better on the midsize aisle, can I select from the midsize aisle?
Also - if booking standard, do I go right to the aisle or do I need to check in at the counter inside first? Thanks.

The way the Emerald Isle works is that they "guarantee" a standard size car. You don't have to stop at the counter (at most locations) and go to the Emerald Isle. You then choose a car from the Emerald Isle area. Sometimes it is only standard size cars. But it includes whatever they deem their inventory will allow. Many times it includes full size cars, SUV's or even Minivans. But is variable. I think you can reserve a particular size of car, but I usually take my chances. Only a couple of times have I been disappointed.
