NATIONAL and AE certs

Has anyone been able to use the American Express gift certificate rewards for national with a discount on their reservation? I was just told that I had a 20$ coupon on my reservation from Entertainment so I could not use the gift certificate. I also put in for the rate of Carlson and they said that would be invalid also.
Should I just call and talk to someone else??

Write to customer service. I do know I had a voucher and was told I could use that, the coupon and discount code on the rental.
It worked without a hitch. Your situation is a bit different, but, write them. I like to have something in print, just in case.
