Does anyone have the phone number I need to request details and an application form for the Nat West car insurance cover, please?

I have mine in front of me......
The policy is called
Nat West Car Rental Insurance
they should have the small folded brouchure in every branch.

for a copy of the terms etc call 01273 765340 quoting NWCRI

Nat West Insurance services 0800 0515101 ( be persistant if you get a negative response, not all the staff are aware of the policy ( that was the case last year when it was launched).

Yes you have to pay for the rental car hire with a Nat West credit card for the cover to be valid.

YES the Nat West brouchure specifically quotes the savings over the Virgin Holidays brouchure,
bearing in mind you'll have to pay local user taxes etc of less than $10 a day.

Don't wish to sound rude but has anyone actually used it?

Sounds too good to be true!

YES several times.

Many Villa owners have been using these policys for years.
Amex do a similar one tied into their travel insurance.
Several others sell their own policies but their all a few quid deaer than Nat west/ Amex, but still a lot cheaper than the hire companies.

The insurance sales con is the only way companies like Virgin / Dollar etc make money on car rental, your so called "FREE" car is never that.

Thanks :)

I tried my local branch for a leaflet, but they didn't have any. I did get the specimen copy of the terms and conditions when I looked into this last year, but I now need the proposal form. I'll give them a ring.

I've scoured their website for information, but I can't find anything. Not under travel services, insurance or credit cards.

Their not very good at coming forward marketing wise.:)
I have a Nat West Gold Plus card that includes full travel insurance yet I cant see that on their site either.

You have to have a NatWest credit card to use it and have paid for your car hire with a NatWest credit card. We had got a flydrive and so had not booked the car independently of the flight but, as we paid for the flydrive using our NatWest credit card, that was OK. Our flydrive was booked with Eclipse, the direct arm of First Choice, so no connection with Virgin.

Sorry if this sounds a bit thick but how can you pay for the hire car with a Natwest credit card if you are getting the free car hire from Virgin.

Surely if you pay for the full holiday by credit card the credit card charge of whatever percent it is (1.5 I think) would be more than paying for Virgin's insurance.

Is it therefore cheaper to arrange your own car insurance, and if so what sort of cost would this be?

Can anyone clarify.

I'm not sure if this will clarify, but I'll try!

The free car hire included with a Virgin holiday or fly-drive is just that - free hire.

You will have to pay for the insurance and taxes. Virgin (and other tour operators) will usually offer the faciltiy to pre-pay this in the Uk, which works out cheaper than leaving it until you get to the car rental desk in the US. For a typical British holidaymaker, the cost of two weeks insurance and taxes, if taken out through Virgin will be roughly £350.

What NatWest and Amex offer is their own CDW cover. That leaves the taxes and other bits and bobs I can't remember which cost around $10 per day, regardless of which way you choose to insure your vehicle.

Bottom line is - Virgin £350 or NatWest £75 annual CDW policy plus $140 taxes (plus cc imprint of $1500 which will be refunded when you return the car).

Hope that's crystal clear ;) or maybe someone else can explain it better than me!

What I meant was if you are not "paying" for the car with Virgin but want to take advantage of Nat West insurance how do you do it if you have to pay for the car with a Nat West credit card, unless you pay for the whole holiday by credit card which incurs an extra charge.

You need to pay for the holiday ( that has a free car) with your Nat West card ( thats why the insurance is so cheap its to get you to use your card:) )

that said on a £3000 at 2% ( iwould guess a lot of people do pay on their cards, I have to as I get free travel insurance as well) its only £60 added to the £75 policy and local taxes its still a better deal, and the longer / more trips you take in a year represents big savings.

We're booked for this September and are planning another trip next year, can we use the policy for both trips? I didn't realise it was a 12 month policy!

I didn't know Virgin imposed a cc surcharge :(
