Nasty!

Here it's illegal to smoke in a car when there are kids in it. I also know a lot of smokers and not one smokes inside their home.

I stand behind my statement.
Oh BTW Hubby and I adopted 2 abused children
and trust me smoke would have been a warm welcome compared to what was done to them!!!

Well you can stand by your statement but you are wrong when you describe it as just a smokey smell. I don't think anyone here is claiming that physically abusing children isn't as bad as smoking, but I consider smoking in your home that you share with your kids, or closed up in your car as a type of abuse. You are hurting your child, and your smoking may eventually kill them.

Kudos to you and your dh for adopting abused children.

I don't smoke!!! All I was trying to say is that I would deal with the smell then someone with a Nasty attitude.

Thank you they are my Angels :D

I know you said you don't smoke, I didn't mean to imply you did, I was speaking in general terms when using "your".

Smokers are people. PEOPLE.

They could absolutely take the stairs, but YOURE the one with the problem so YOURE the one that needs to adjust.
yep... 'they' could take the stairs...but by the same token....so could you. Would be the one way to guarantee that you're not stuck in that enclosed space with any unwelcome odors....

I agree that smokers can smell (some need to lighten up as most do not smoke in their houses or cars so their kids and clothes and house etc will not smell like smoke)... BUT EVERYONE stinks of something.. stand outside any restaurant - fast food casual coffee place etc and take a wife of the people walking out... not pleasant unless you like that smell. Overweight people and people who do not work out on a constant basis... hot day they are walking and sweat... you stink.... spicy food a few days ago... Just got of a pane or a train.... the lst goes on forever.... Health risks please add all the links about overweight, processed foods, ham period, cold cuts, soda (coke will effectively unclog your drain) not working out 20 minutes a day, sugar in general, red meat, anything but organic and some that as well......we could go onto attitudes, the way someone dresses, hair, makeup, shoes... men who think anyone bigger than a size 2 are fat and disgusting (yes it is said by more than you care to want to know and some women take it to heart) how you spend your money in the end NO ONE has the right to comment about someone choice and suggest they do something else...and anyone of these can raise a persons blood pressure causing undue stress and a premature heart attack TRUST ME SOMEONE FINDS YOU OFFENSIVE...EVERYONE IS TO SOMEONE...

Lots of stinky people in this world. I have been know to crop dust a crowded elevator myself!!!!

I can't stand the smell of cigarette smoke, either. It makes really nauseous and brings on an instant headache. It's sad how many people are so addicted to them and how many chain smokers there are (including some relatives in extended family). I agree that smoking among teens in high school is not as popular as it used to be. There are some students on my college campus who smoke, but I guess not very many. I just don't get the appeal - especially with college students. Most young adults have been raised knowing the dangers of cigarette smoke (commercials, taught in health classes at schools, etc), but still choose to smoke. I understand for older people when it was more popular that it can be really hard to quit now. But for young adults?

Uh, yeah. What would you call it? Unless you put it in quotes because you don't know what it means?

WOW, just wow. I'm not going to address the stinky smoke but I will address your attitude. It is exactly what you said you didn't like about the OP.

smoke smell, people who bathe in perfume, farting.... all gross but things we have to deal with in enclosed spaces from time to time. IMO one isn't any more nasty than the other and to get dramatic about it just makes you (general you) seem childish.

The thread asked her to say what she found nasty, but when she said what she found nasty, some responders disagreed with her right to find it to be nasty. We all do not have to be offended by the same human behaviors, BUT she still has the right to be offended.

It's very rude and snobbish of me, but I'm offended when people begin a sentence with "me" as in "Me and her are going." I acknowledge their perfect right to that sentence and the deep intellectual snobbery that allows me to react with scorn, but I still shudder inside.

When the surgeon general came out with the warning on cigarette packs in 1964, my Dad quite smoking. I was still a little girl, and years later developed chronic bronchitis and asthma. He asked me, "Did my smoking do this? No one else in the family has ever had weak lungs." It makes him so sad that I carry a rescue inhaler and have asthma attacks and frequent bronchitis, but my doctor says that living with a smoker as a toddler was likely -- not certainly, just likely -- the cause. If you have children, don't smoke around them.

No one asked for her (?) opinion, she started this thread and worded it in such a way that she should have expected some backlash. Just like she has a right to be offended by smokers stink , others have a right to be offended or even just irritated by her nastiness.

About the nastiest thing I encounter on a regular basis is being trapped in an elevator with someone who is just coming in from smoking. Nasty!

To the smokers out there, can you please air out a bit before you get on the elevator?

Just press the button halfway below them, then let out an SBD as you get off. Then, both of you are grossed out by the other.
