Does anyone know what happened to them?? :confused3 Last year when we were visiting the BW, there were so many of those nasty white birds. They were more aggressive than ever. Taking food right out of people's hands!:headache: Well my parents are visiting now, and said there is not a bird in sight. :thumbsup2 I was wondering if anyone knows what happened to them??

You're probably referring to seagulls. They got used to being fed by idiot guests using the food dispensers and the result was a lot of bird 'poop' all over virtually all of the docks...and, occasionally on the guests.

Consequently, WDW removed all of the food dispensers from all of the docks.

The seagulls also were very numerous near all the McDonald fry places. I think that more and more people are discouraging their kids not to feed the birds. Human food is actually not that great for wild animals. They have plenty of nature food all around Disney World, they aren't going to starve.

disnut8 how right you are! while at the ak we had some very aggressive birds not sealgulls though. its hard not to feed them as they are very cute, but its best not too.

Rest assured those birds are there. They are probably over at Stormalong bay because someone is feeding them well. They were certainly there last week!

I actually saw a squirrel begging for food in EPCOT too!

Have to laugh because on our beaches you can usually tell the tourists because of the amount of seagulls hovering. The locals know not to feed them but the tourist just love to throw bread, crackers, fries, etc. I have no desire to be dive-bombed with bird poo while at the beach.

One of the reasons we love Florida is all the wildlife, especially the birds. I saw more disgusting people on the boardwalk than birds. I've never had an unpleasant bird encounter at Disney. Lovebugs, yes. Birds, no. Everyone is right, it's not a good idea to feed them...it's certainly not good for them.

I find the seagulls worse in the winter months. It must have something to do with flying south for the winter. Anyone who has never had to deal with a disgusting moment of these scavengers should consider themselves lucky. Last February we watched as they attacked a woman in EPCOT at the funnel kiosk. As she walked away they actually all flocked around her inches from her face until she dropped her funnel cake. She was in tears as my husband tried to calm her. While at SAB last week, we saw many of the blackbirds going after kids and taking their food. The birds are not afraid because people feed them. It was all I could do to keep my husband under control as he was totally disgusted with them.

....hmm, maybe the "bird police" put them in Bird Prison for theft and aggravated assault...:rotfl2: :rotfl2: ...although, I doubt it:rolleyes:

I was a "victim" of those meanie birds on the BW in Jan. One dive bombed me as soon as I came out of the sweet shop with a mint chocolate chip ice cream cone...the top of it was gone quicker than you could say..."Mickey"!! :lmao:

Yeap, spoiled gulls they are, beware...they may have been just finding some other "victims" the last few days, I bet they're lurking in WDW somewhere for that next mint chocolate chip ice cream cone!!

Exactly then others that feed them wonder, why does anyone care.

It can be truly dangerous for small children with the birds, ducks and geese get aggressive for food.

Seagulls are seasonal in the Orlando area. When it is warm, they tend to stay near the coast because the bait fish are heavy. During the cooler months, they will be in this area. At that time, they find the pickings better in the theme parks.

bird person (I think she is gone). Says it was tropical storms or hurricanes in their nature area - gulf or ocean that make them come to WDW.

they also will fish in the lakes....

now Disney has finally gotten some prey birds in the area - eagles, hawks, falcons, etc.

hawks will attack crows.

that say the last time the eagle was going after the silly rabbits who were lying in the sun when he came by.:rolleyes1

though this was strange behavior - but my BFH - says that even birds will go after the easiest prey.

I was cracking up at your message. I too was dive bombed. As I was walking along the boardwalk I felt something sharp scrap behind my ear. I quickly reached up over my head and realized it was a bird taking off! Of course when I reached up I wasn't intentionally swatting at the crow...I was just trying to figure out what the heck was going on and what on earth was attacking me. It was so funny because I started screaming some reference to "The Birds" and people just thought I was nuts. :yay:

Hey it is the Boardwalk and beachclub area, a Seagull SHOULD be right at home.
I live on Cape Cod and take exception to them being called Nasty birds LOL
