Anyone recently taken just a cab to drive around the island? We did this a few years ago, on another cruise line (like 5 years ago) and we had a fantastic cab driver who drove us around in a van with a/c, and narrated a whole tour of the city. Even stopped so the kids could get some McDonald's!!!
I am looking over the excursions, and not finding one that the whole family can enjoy. I also don't want to stay on the ship for the day, would like to go explore.
Any ideas?

Wow, that sounds different. I guess it all depends if you get a good driver or not.

That's the thing, I think we were lucky to have a great driver. Of course we paid more than what we would have to go do a nice excursion, but we got to see Nassau.

We just got back from a 4-night cruise and really wish we hadn't spent the time or the money on the Atlantis beach day excursion. It took 1 hour 45 minutes to get to the beach from the boat! It's about a 10-minute drive, but moving the herd of people around meant lots of standing and waiting and getting packed into little tiny buses. We only had 1 hour of beach time before we had to start back to the boat due to early departure from the port because of hurricane schedule. Nassau itself was not that pretty, so we wish we had stayed on the nice, clean boat to enjoy the day. We loved the rest of the cruise!!!

We took the Nassau Historic tour while on the DVC Members tour in Feb. 03. I do not recommend the Disney recommended tour. It was a poor. If you can get a private tour, you will do better.
