Nassau-Cabbage Beach on own?

Has anyone done Cabbage Beach on thier own? I know that the restrooms and restaurants are limited or non existant. However for just a 2-3 hours on the beach I thought it would work. Can you have a cab drop you off at the east end of the beach (the less crowded end)? If you take the ferry where does it drop you off at? Any tips or ideas??
