Or as they showed it on TV the other day - Gordonsville
Now that I know what his penalty for Sunday is I can post the thread. If he had been suspended I might have protested by not watching the race. Anyway Gordon's penalty is $10,000 and probation until Aug 06. Jim Hunter said this was the first time NASCAR ever had to punish Gordon for this type of behavior. (In other words, Spencer got lots of warnings before he was suspended, Tony and Harvick got probation and fines before losing points, etc.) While I was expecting a points deduction can't say I'm not happy there was not one, on the other hand I can understand that there are some folks (not in here mind you) who will be upset (livid) about this.
Okay - on to this week's race - Martinsville - another short track but not as much banking so it's not as fast. Doesn't mean it won't be as interesting.
Last year's winner was Jeff Gordon for both the Spring and Fall races.
Qualifying is Friday at 3:40PM Eastern time (weather permitting). This is also the first race where they will use this year's owner's points. Drivers attempting to qualify who are outside the 35th position include:
#00-Hermie Sadler
#4-Scott Wimmer
#14-Sterling Marlin
#32-Travis Kvapil
#34-Chad Caffin
#40-David Stremme
#49-Brent Sherman
#61-Kevin Lepage
#74-Derrike Cope
#78-Kenny Wallace
#89-Morgan Shepherd
#92-Chad Blount
#95-Stanton Barrett
My picks:
1. #24 - Jeff Gordon (always)
2. #6 - Mark Martin (Mr Consistency)
3. #2 - Kurt Busch (his car does well here)
4. #5 - Kyle Busch (why not)
5. #11 - Denny Hamlim (did well last week)
Spare - #20 Tony Stewart
Good luck all!
