Think we will splurge on dinner at Narcoossee's- do they pipe in the music for Wishes here? What's the best time for dinner PS if I want to see the fireworks? Any especially good dishes you would recommend?

Yes, they do pipe in the music, but it's still hard to hear because the restaurant has wood floors and high ceilings. Kitchen and diner noise drown out Wishes. Ask your server if you can hear the music outside the restaurant. That could be an option for viewing Wishes. The view is killer, so I hope you get a chance to hear the music, too.

Your PS time depends on what time Wishes will be that night. If it's 9 PM, I would make my PS for 8:30. If it's 10 PM, then I would make the PS for 9:30.

I highly recommend the salmon! I am a big fan of AP's Cedar Plank Salmon, and this one is different, but better, IMO.

We ate at Narcoosee's a few years ago and were disappointed. The food and service were both excellent, but the atmosphere wasn't at all what we expected, especially considering the cost. Rather than feeling like a fancy restaurant, which one would expect given the location and price, it felt more like a nice upscale bar - very open, somewhat loud (as mckryan alluded to). We went with another couple and though we all enjoyed our food, it just wasn't the romantic setting we were expecting. Being at the GF, we expected something more quietly elegant.

We love Narcoossee's. The food and service are great (especially the Surf and Turf). The atmosphere is noisy, but that fits with the place. At the GF, Citricos and Victoria & Albert's offer quiet, romantic dinners. Don't waste your time trying for a window seat facing the Castle - when the fireworks begin, most of the restaurant goes outside onto the veranda. It is a spectacular view and beautiful location for the fireworks. We usually go to WDW over the 4th of July and this is where we watch the fireworks every year.

I just wanted to restate that the food and service were great. We were only disappointed because the place wasn't what we expected.

One anecdote to show how the service was - there was something on the menu that none of us had ever heard of (one of the side dishes that came with a couple of the meals). We asked the waiter about it and he tried to explain what it was. When we got our entrees, he brought along a plate of the dish in question so we could all taste it (no charge of course).

I would definitely go back there, but I'd know what to expect this time.
