Are "enhancements" different from "side dishes"? We are on the dining plan and would love to trade King crab legs for a dessert. Might this be possible? Thanks!

"Enhancements
Bering Sea Split King Crab Legs
1/2 Pound served Steamed with Drawn Butter

Lobster Macaroni & Cheese
Torchio Pasta, Butter-poached Lobster, Fennel, Sweet Onion, and Manchego Cheese

Narcoossee's Signature Mashed Potatoes
Boniato-Idaho Mashed Potatoes, Applewood-smoked Bacon, Tillamook Cheddar, and Scallions "

My understanding (going for the first time in October) is that the enhancements cannot be substituted for anything. If you want one you pay for it. So if on dining plan and order a regular entrée it will cost another $27 or so for the crab legs. And 1/2 lb of king crab legs is about 1 leg or so.

Enhancements and Side Dishes are two very different things at Narcoossee's. A side dish is something that comes with one of the entrees (listed as part of the entree), whereas the Enhancements are separately priced items. They are not DDP eligible. Even under the new DDP "rules" the Enhancements are not eligible for the dessert substitution. According to the reports about the dessert substitution change to the dining plan, there is only a few items that can be substituted (e.g., side salad, a cup of soup, or a fruit plate) and it can vary by location (i.e., not all locations will have all three items).

Extremely unlikely. Narcoossee's is a signature table service restaurant and so far all of the reports I've seen for substitutions at TS restaurants have been for a side salad, a veggie side dish (The Wave) or the 3 salad sampler (BOG dinner). Also, the substitute dish is something the restaurant chooses so it might be something not on the menu like a small house salad or a fruit cup.

"Enhancements," "Side Dishes" or "Accompaniments" are the same when referring to sections on a menu - it is just a matter of which one a restaurant uses on their menu to describe dishes that can be ordered in addition to the entrees. It is a separate section of the menu usually following the entree section. The items will have price points and would have to be paid for out of pocket.

If you are referring to "sides" or "side dishes" that are part of the description of an entree these would be the items that come with the main dish and are included with the dining credit or the price of the entree.

As far as subtitutions, perhaps you are thinking of Quick Service restaurants where you can substitute any item with the snack credit logo for your dessert.
