Trying to plan a nice anniversary dinner for hubby and I. I was thinking Narcoossee since it is at the GF and I can get the mini wedding cake there. But, I have a illuminations cruise for the same night and worry about getting there on time. Since that is leaving from the Yacht & Beach Club, I was thinking of trying the Steakhouse. Any opinions? We have to be at the dock byt 8:30 at the latest. How long does dinner take at either of these signature restaurants? How long to get to the dock from there?

Tight race in my eyes.
Narcoossee's is my wife's favorite, YSH is mine.
But, you have a very valid point about getting to Bayside Marina on time.
You don't say when but I have to assume it's before Thanksgiving, so you will have to be at Bayside Marina by 8pm. So, I always figure 2-hours in any Disney Fine Dining, not that it is going to take that long, but for my money I do not want to be rushed.
I would say, that since you have to be at BSM at 8pm, you should dine at YSH, and make either a 5:30 to 6:00PM ADR. When you arrive, tell your server that you have to leave before 8pm, just so they know.
Also, if you arrive at YSH early you are more apt to get one of the few tables along the window in the rotunda area. Very nice tables with a great view of the pool.
And, it may be possible for you to get a special cake at YSH, I would make the ADR, then contact the YC Bakery and order your special cake, if they can't do the mini-wedding cake, they can do the Mickey Head Cake, but I can't answer this for sure.

Although I personally prefer Narcoossees (atmosphere and food) in your situation I would probably go with the Yachtsman. (which is also good)

Instead of a cake at dinner, have something on your cruise. You can have them provide all kinds of really cool things--champagne, cake, etc. Much nicer and unique in my opinion than a cake at dinner. Call and speak to someone about pricing, etc. It is pricey to have those things on the cruise, but it's really a very nice, special thing to do.
