My family has reservations there for our trip in 2 weeks, but I have read more negative comments here. Has anyone been there recently? If the food was bad and the service did you complain to the manager?

With presiden't week-end I doubt I can get anything else this late, but don't want to waste all that money on a bad experience. Thanks for your help.

You'll hear both good things and bad things about all restaurants, it seems. While some might suggest to ignore the reviews, that doesn't leave you much to go on in terms of making the best choices for your family, and reviews are actually a very valuable means of making trip planning decisions. The key is to know how to read a review and interpret its message with regard to your own circumstances.

Here's an extreme example: For my recent trip, we didn't visit all my favorite restaurants, because my favorites are based on our typical WDW trip: My wife and I, either alone, or perhaps with some adult friends. This time, we brought my younger brother's family along, folks who have substantially different tastes from my wife and I, so my favorites wouldn't necessarily be the best for us, this time.

Besides the ages of the diners, personal preference plays a very strong role, not just with regard to cuisine but with regard to other aspects of the dining experience. I tend to discount reviews from folks who are "meat and potatoes" people, or who are fast food people. I tend to regard very highly reviews from people who like fine dining, and even reviews from wine afficiantos, even though I don't drink wine, because I have found, through experience, that those folks preferences with respect to dining most closely align with mine.

So the trick, for you, is to read the reviews, and then ask yourself, for each one, to the extent you can determine it from the writers' manner, demeanor and written descriptions of themselves, whether this is a person "just like you" enough for their review to be relevant to you. Good luck!

FWIW, I have had many great experiences at Narcoossee, and find the place to an excellent choice for a fine, casual dinner. The cuisine is sufficiently run-of-the-mill that folks who avoid exotic cuisines will be fine there. Of course, seafood lovers will be happier than meat-eaters.

Narcossee's is a great restaurant. We were there last July- very busy time- actually went on July4th and the service was GREAT! The food was fantastic and they bent over backwards for my kids too!(we were afraid to go with kids so we booked an early seating time- that may be why they were so accomodating) but really we loved it and the atmoshere here really makes you feel like you are not in Disney(which can be a good thing after overload) I think you will love it

DH and I went in October after reading many mixed reviews on this board. I really wish we had listened to the bad reviews. Neither of us liked our meals or appetizers at all - we aren't picky eaters either. We did like the location and atmosphere, but I truly believe you can get a better meal at almost every other signature restaurant.
Try Le Cellier or Cali Grill instead.

I went twice recently - once in December and again 10 days ago. Both times I was very pleased with both the ambience and the food. DW and I are not big on seafood, but the Chicken and the Beef Filet were excellent. Perhaps a liitle pricey, but the DDE made it at least reasonable (for Disney anyway!)

We enjoy Narcoossees and eat there every trip. We've not had bad service (once it was not the best, but wouldn't call it bad) most of the time we have a great server (a couple times it's been the same person, lol).

The food is good. Simple, but good. The atmosphere is somewhat casual, which we enjoy.

There is simply no way to know whether or not you will have a good experience until you try it. Different servers, different tastes in food, etc. (and this is true everywhere)

We enjoyed it Last February and will be eating there again this Friday! PM me sometime after that and I will let you know!!

I had the salmon last year and DH had a filet. Both were excellent, as was the service.

We have also enjoyed California Grill in the past. We ate at Le Cellier tonight and it was wonderful, too!!!
