We're hoping to take our first family Disney trip in October. If we stay on property, we're planning to stay at ASM Resort. I've read mixed reviews on the Disney transportation system though. We definately want to make it a point to get back to the room every afternoon so DD2 can have a nap and we can have lunch. Is it easy enough to get to and from the parks? Or should we scrap it and stay off-site and rent a car? I was thinking the Extended Stay Deluxe LBV looked like a good deal.

The buses run every 10-15 min's so that should not be a problem. We did the same thing a few yrs ago and had no trouble

I don't think staying off-site would be any easier for naps, but I'm not sure as I've always stayed on property with my kids.

The busses are pretty efficient. You will have to fold up the stroller getting on the bus, so if she falls asleep you'll have to carry her and the folded up stroller. That would certainly be a negative if you're going to be there by yourself...if you have adults to help it shouldn't be a problem.

We were at ASMusic in January and found the buses to be very efficient. We stayed at WL in January, 2007, and DH thought that the ASMusic buses were more efficient (waited less time) than the WL buses.

Just count on naps to take 3 to 4 hours, including transportation time. And relax and enjoy (you might need a nap, too)!

we stayed at AS Music last year with my 3 1/2mo dd and we had no trouble getting the bus to go back several times a day for nap!

It also has a lot to do with timing. For instance if you stay for the first afternoon parade at MK then plan to head for your resort, you won't be the only one doing it!

Last year during free dining we were at the Movies and noticed we had much longer lines for our bus than the Sports did because they had combined the Music and Movies into one bus :confused3 . A couple of times we hopped on the empty Sports bus and just walked to the Movies and we still beat the Movies/Muic bus!

I agree that the buses are very efficient considering how many thousands of guests the transport every day.

We've taken our twins to WDW since they were 2 1/2 years old, and we always stay at ASMovies. We've never had problems getting the bus back to the hotel for naps - it's usually almost empty during naptime as most people just stay at the parks. We usually eat lunch at 11am (short lines for counter service/not crowded)---once you get to around 11:30 am the lines get long. After lunch we sometimes stay another hour, sometimes we just go straight to the hotel for nap, and head back to parks after nap. I generally carry snacks with me so they can snack while we're on the go back to the parks.

FYI - I usually request a room on the 2nd floor because there isn't as much "foot traffic" (noise).

We always stay at a value resort and never have any trouble with the transportation. Plan about a half an hour ahead and you should be fine. For example, Our kids nap about 12:30. We try to be at the bus line waiting at 11:50 no later than 12:00 and we are usually back with time to spare.

:thumbsup2 Excellent advice.
