Hi, it's Grandma again with another question for you all. The youngest of the 3 grandkids I will be travelling with will still be in nappies when we go. My question is this, is there enough room in the Toilet of the aeroplane to change the nappy of a wriggly big boy ?? Once again thank you all in advance for your words of wisdom and advice, all of which are greatly appreciated by me :)

I've never had to change a nappy in an aeroplane toilet, but even just going to the loo in there is difficult!
There's really not much room. I think you fold the nappy change table down from the wall. If he's a big boy, I think you'll be pushing it, but I'm sure many others have had to do the same.

It's been a long time since I've had to change a nappy on the plane. But we did do it when DS was 7 months and 2.5 years old. From memory, there isn't much room but we managed.

How old is your grandson?

He will be 27mths when we go.

I am very pleased to hear there is a change table to use. I just did not recall seeing one; but that would be because I was not looking for one :)

Have you considered buying some Huggies nappy pants? They are great! We used them when travelling to Perth a couple of years ago with Miss 2 :)

It depends on who you are flying with but in general the nappy changing table is very small! Even when Baby Girl was still a small baby (9months) she was starting to dangle over the edge. More often than not they put the pull down table in an odd spot/corner so if the baby sits up/stands on it they would hit their head. I found using the disable toilet (which isn't a whole lot bigger) and pull up nappies were so much easier!

I've not flown as long as you are, but we have flown from the UK to the US and back pretty much every year. The toilets are very small, with tiny changing tables. The best bet is probably pull up type nappies. It is possible to change a nappy in there, but it's not easy.

[I don't know how old your other grandkids are, but taking a young child to the toilet isn't easy either, but it can be done. My 6 year old is still afraid of the flush on there (it is very loud) so we go in together. It is a very tight squeeze.]
