Napa Rose visit

I don't know how many people here have eaten at the Napa Rose at the Grand Californian. I had my first visit there this Sunday.

I made my reservation for Sunday on Thursday. I could not get my first choice, but got a 6:45 reservation. I asked for a 7:00 PM reservation. No real biggie.

We were seated around 6:55 PM. It has a very subtle and demure inside. Lots of green and browns. Now this place is certainly pricey probably on the order of California Grill at WDW.

They had a 4 course fixed price selection for 65 dollars and for an exttra 35 dollars, the recommended wine with each course. My friend went for that. I picked and selected my courses wich included some seared ahi and salmon, a wonderful tomato with focaccia and goat cheese, duck breast and a lemon custard for dessert. I had one glass of red wine (I was driving) and my bill was 70 dollars without tip.

They have a very nice selection of wines. I tasted a Syrah that my friend was served. It was delicious and she would not trade with my glass of Pinot Noir.

The service was very good. The atmosphere was relaxed. The kitchen is open and you can watch them work form some of the tables.

Overall, I was very pleased with the resturant. I thought I got good value for my meal. I am not so sure that I would have been as happy if I had ordered the fixed price meal unless it had been priced a little less.

If you want a very nice meal for an appropriate price, then I would certainly return to thsi restuarant.

Thanks for the info, TLK! We have yet to try Napa Rose, keep thinking about it, but I know I need to be really hungry to eat there. Sounds GREAT, though!

We always get the Vintner's Table--the wines are very carefully selected to go with the courses. They always do wonderful little amuses bouches and great appetizers--we had a lobster avocado "martini" once that was to die for! We had a group of 10 for the Mother's Day brunch, which was great, plus we got Tommy Lasorda's autograph for my 90-year-old Dodger fan grandpa.

What's the Vintner's Table? Does it have a different menu/cost more? Is it like the Chef's Table at V&A?

Beachbunny, the Vintner's Table is the prix fixe menu that The Lion King referred to. You can get it with or without the wines, but my husband the wine nut feels the wines are always interesting and well-chosen. It's not like the chef's table (which we loved) except in the sense you get that talented people in the kitchen are having fun with food.

One of my favorite features of Napa Rose is the bar/lounge. if there isn't a private event going on you can hang out there and sip drinks. If you're hungry they have a small menu, or they'll even serve you off the full menu from the restaurant.
