Had a wonderful meal at Napa Rose chef's counter last night. Not going to write a dining review - too many glasses of wine to do that justice right now - but all I can say is wow

The entire staff was very friendly and we had a great time chatting with the chefs. The food was out of this world. Tried many things that I wouldn't normally even consider ordering. A great opportunity to expand your pallet.

Thanks to Mary Jo for making the reservations and joining Val & I for a wonderful evening.

The DW and I were considering this for an upcoming trip, but our DS's are 11 and 8, any way they can join you for the dinner but order something off the kids menu or does booking this lock you in for the entire party?

Thanks,

We've considered doing this on our upcoming trip and putting our kids in the hotel childcare for the evening. Did you get plenty of food? Do you have to get the wine pairings, because DH doesn't drink wine. Thanks. :)

I wanted to do this with my husband beause we haven't been out on a date in 6 years so how do I get to the chef's counter? What is different about being at the chef's counter? If there a dress code at Napa Rose?

You can order off the regular menu at the Chef's counter. You can also have some of your party do the chef's tasting, some do the prix fee menu, and some the regular menu. Without even knowing you children, I'd suggest they may not enjoy this meal since its a very grown-up kind of thing.

Yes, you get plenty of food, but this is all about quality, not quantity. We did not leave hungry. You do not have to get the wine pairings. You can have that individually so it would be fine if you got it and your husband didn't. You could also just order a glass or two of wine.

Just call for reservations. I believe its 60 days ahead that you can book this, but we waited until about a month out. There are two seatings for the Chef's counter, 5:30 and 8:30.

Different? Well, basically you're siting looking into the kitchen watching them prepare everything and chatting with them as they do it. The way the dining works is up to you. You can order off the regular menu, a prix fee menu, or just leave yourselves in their hands and they will pick and chose what to serve you based on your likes/dis-likes or allergies. Wine can be ordered by the glass, as a pairing according to the menu item, or you could have none at all.

There is no dress code, but people generally dress a bit nicer than park attire.

What is the cost for something like this?

Totally depends on what you order. You can have the chef select your courses, order the fixed price, or order a la carte. You can order wine or no wine. So it really depends on what you decide.

Wonderful! Thanks so much for all the info. I was just worried that we might leave hungry so since that's not the case we'll definitely give it a try. :thumbsup2

We went whole hog (as it were) and let the chef do the ordering, plus got the wine pairings. Total cost ~$180/person.

Thanks for sharing. :thumbsup2 I'm planning on using the gift card I'll be getting for winning the OMDD sweepstakes to pay for it. DH thinks it's too expensive but I figure we're not paying and I know we'd never do it if we had to pay out of pocket. I'm excited! :cheer2:

I have to agree that it was truly an awesome experience. Suevr, that is great you have the gift card. Take full advantage. :)

We're definitely very lucky. I'm excited to give the Chef's counter a try. :)
