Names on reservation?

Here's a logistics question for you.

1. We're staying at AKLV this September, using a relatives points. It's DH and I and another couple. When the relative makes the reservation for us, he will have to put all 4 names on the ressie right?

2. Do the names have to match exactly? Can we put Mike Smith and Sue Smith down or do we have to put their full names "Michael Smith" and "Susan Smith"? Will that affect their ability to create an account on MDE or customize bands etc? Neither of them ever go by Michael or Susan...it would be weird to have someone call them that.

3. Once we have the ressie with all four names on it, they will need to create their own MDE account right? Then they can link their AAA park tix AND the ressie number my relative gets for our stay right?

I know this seems silly, but we are booking this weekend and I want my ducks in a row. First time traveling with another couple and sharing a room.

What is imperative for MDE is that the names on the reservation needs to match exactly the names in the family and friends in MDE who are guests. We learned that any difference means things like restaurant reservations, tickets, and magic bands will not be matched correctly as two slightly different names will be treated as two entirely different persons in MDE.

Yes. The member needs to list all those who will be staying in the room.

For all things travel related, they probably should use the name that matches their ID.

It's best if each family group has their own MDE account. The following steps need to be completed BEFORE you attempt to link the room reservation to MDE. Once each family has created their own MDE account and added their spouse/partner as a managed profile, you need to connect the two main MDE accounts. One of you needs to add the main person from the other MDE account as a Friend and use the invite function to connect. Once that invite is accepted, one of you can then use the 'Invite Through a Mutual Friend' feature to add the other spouse/partner.

After the Family & Friends list is setup, you can link the room reservation and make sure that the occupants selected are correct. Each family can also link their park admission.

Once the room reservation is linked, you will be able to customize MagicBands. Here you can enter their preferred name. MagicBands are only shipped to US address and all of them will be shipped to the same address.

For dining reservations, you can select individuals when you make the ADR but that's only show they show up on their itinerary. The restaurant only receives the primary persons name and the size of the dining party.

Thanks!

To be honest, the whole rigamarole of setting up MDE accounts, linking tickets, linking reservations, inviting friends/managing accounts is one gigantic flaming hoop to jump through and truly a pain in the butt. It feels like Disney went out of their way to make things complicated.

If it was just DH and I it would be fine (I was able to use the system last year though it was in March before the FP+ debacle...err...rollout). But trying to walk newbies through the process, and worry about linking their stuff and then linking to us, linking ADR's/FP etc has got me a little hot under the collar.

It would be nice to just book a room, buy our tickets and just show up.

Eh. Looks like I'll be taking one for the team.

We are leaving for our trip March 6th with a total of 14 people traveling. What a pain it has been. And this whole tiered fast pass thing just bites big time.

I second the previous poster that the names must match up exactly.
