Names on contract

When buying a resale contract with same use year, the names obviously need to be the same to merge into exisitng account.

However, do they need to be in the same order on the contract as listed on existing contract, if everything else is identical? (Eg, husbands name first, wife second vs wife first, husband second.)

First I have heard of that. I guess I will have to find out. I am currently working on purchasing a contract that I was hoping to merge, but I didn't pay attention to the order that i listed the names.

If you’re still in the process (i.e., not yet closed), forward to the title company the names as they appear on your current contract (or contract that will close earliest if you are in contract on multiple contracts in parallel) and they can address any discrepancies in the names prior to closing.

It will be a lot less painful to do that now than after things have been filed with OCC.

All too late unfortunately. I’m pretty certain I asked the question when proofing the paperwork with the brokers admin support and was told that order didn’t matter and so I didn’t push. Everything is closed and am waiting to see if everything gets merged properly

It might be fine, but I was reviewing the OCC register and was reminded about the difference in order again, so I wanted to ask the question of the board.

If it doesn’t work, its my own fault for not pushing the issue...

I wouldn't think that order matters. Ownership is ownership no matter the order of the names.

If you purchase resale with The Timeshare Store, Inc.® and you own at a resort where the deed is accessible online the associate will look up the deed and put the names in the same order as on your current deed.
