I've heard of people assigning "different" names to their bands. Why? When is your name used in association with your and use.

Each Magic Band is specific to a person. When you add tickets to your account, each ticket is also connected to a person and can't be changed once it's been used. When you make FP reservations, they are also by the person. So if your group wanted to split up, you would have to know whose band was whose.

You can put anything on the back of your band (up to 9 characters/spaces). It's just for fun and to be able to tell which band belongs to which person if two of you get the same color. No matter what you list on the back of your band, the CMs still see your real name when your band is scanned at the gates and at FP entrance machines.

(P.S. DH is hoping for the base to be shut down tomorrow. :rotfl:)

Guess I missed the point of that question. :confused3

I just thought I had heard that at times the CMs say for example " thanks...." Whatever name you choose.... Like welcome to fass pass + "batman". :thumbsup2

Also hoping for a base closure tomorrow or at least a nice delay

I used the name "Granddaddy" on my Band. When we checked in, they asked for my Band because the name didn't match any name on the resort reservation. They said they needed to re-set it and it took a while for them to scan and re-scan it several times.

But then it still never worked to open our room. (It worked for park entrance, FP+, and charging, however.)

Don't know if the failure of the name I assigned to the Band to match my name was the root of the problem or not, but the resort CM said it was. :confused3

None of our bands had our real names on them when we were there in October. We never had any issues. We used our MNSSHP character names on our bands. :goodvibes

Super, thanks for the feedback.

I'll stop warning people that using a different name on the Band could be problemmatical. :goodvibes

It would be funny, but no, it shows the CM's your real first name on their screen.

My boyfriend and I just returned from a trip yesterday, and he decided to name his magic band "mojo hand". It's a reference to the Grateful Dead song "Ramble on Rose" and he's an old deadhead. When we were greeted by the CM's or looked at the screen at the ride entrances, it always showed his first name, not "mojo hand"...We checked...Lol.

The name on the back of your band is just for you to be able to identify it.

If scanning it causes your name to show up on a screen or anything, it will be the name associated with your My Disney Experience account profile, not the name printed on the back of your band.

I've been naming mine after bands of course. Latest one will be a blue one with OYSTRCULT on the back.

The name on the back of your band should have no influence whatsoever on your resort reservation. The band does nothing but read your MDX profile.

Now, if you were to change the name on your MDX profile to "Batman" then they'd see "Batman" on the screens.

As mention previously, it's just to keep track of each band if you happen to choose the same color. They go by the real name on the account.
