Name a weird teen fad

In middle school for me it was the "tuck and roll" on the jeans...but by the time I got to high school...it was big, baggy, LONG pants...even if you skated - your pants had to hide your shoes. I don't think I purchased a pair of "woman pants" all during highschool - most of my clothes I purchased at the army/navy salvation army store...or I wore men's khakies from Structure (long - baggy - big - perfect)

even when roller blading - the pants had to be long...can't tell ya how many times I fell!

Just thought of another fad that was popular at my high school

Laced up Ropers with Shorts!!!

What was I thinking???????

What about levi jean jackets with buttons all over it!!! The jacket had to weigh atleast 15 pounds will all of those buttons!!! You know, the ones from Spencers along with all of the group buttons!

Who could forget those plastic charm necklaces and bracelets from the 80's? They were those funky colored "chain" plastic necklaces that you'd get plastic charms for.

Man, oh man. I was so cool on my 9th birthday when I got those roller skate charms :)

omg - I totally remember those.

Man they were TACKY!

Lace shirts with your bra in a contrasting color (that Madonna thing). Banadanas tied around the ankle. OP shirts. corduroy overalls with only one side clasped. IOU shirts! trench coats.

My favorite outfit was a white silk blouse, black baggy pants tucked into knee high black boots, a black ribbon around my neck and a knee length jacket (of course I had the big hair to go with this!)

Who would wear something like this today? :)

Current fad is writing on your hand/arm.
hoodies.
flip flops even when it is freezing out.
thongs hanging out the back of your very low riders.
boys - crotch down to their knees with 6 inches of their plaid boxers hanging out.
girls - no bangs., hair all one length.
boys - longer hair growing over the ears and shaggy looking.

Climbing into a full bathtub wearing your new jeans so they would shrink to fit like a glove. Yep, we actually believed that would work.

Saddle shoes...did someone say that already?

Poodle skirts

sweater sets with pearls

eye make up like Liz Taylor in Cleopatra

bleaching one strand of your bangs like the girl on American Bandstand

the "Flashdance" look

big hair

I'm guilty of embracing the goth look back in HS

kallison, I think im in style...i write on my hand to remind myself of things...im so bad at forgetting that I have to draw an arrow on the top of my hand to remind myself theres a reminder on my hand!!!!:o

ROFL That was too funny !

But hang in there. I have found there is one advantage to a very poor short term memory. There is no such thing as a rerun, everything appears brand new

Now thats something I never thought of!! Heres another fad...I had Garbage Pail Kids!!!LOL

What's wrong with hoodies? That is what I wear pretty much every other day during the winter.

The worst trend going on now is these kids with long shaggy hair that covers their ears and eyes. Just disgusting, horrible looking, not enough words I can use to describe how ugly it looks. Glad us kids who graduated HS say 2 years ago never partook in that @&#@.

How about people who wore bib overalls with only one side latched???? OR the ones who roll one leg up to the knee and keep one leg of their pants down to their ankles? Strange to me.

Where did you go to high school???? Desiree!!!

Usually it's people in B.R. that were familar with Girbaud jeans. I graduated from Central High!

I just sent you a PM asking the same questions!!!

Girbauds were regional? We had those at my HS (Slidell, LA). Those were what the preps wore, though; I wouldn't be caught dead in them or Z. Cavariccis -- YUCK! Of course the fact that those jeans cost a good $70 didn't help sway my tastes away from them.

So another fad was wearing the most expensive clothes possible. I was going nowhere near that, so I was way ahead of my time doing the thrift store thing. Apparently I was born too early, because now you can be stylish AND cheap!
