Nail Wraps- worth it?

I am thinking about buying some of the Jamberry nail wraps. I am not good at doing my own nails and they cost about the same as I spend on a manicure anyway so if they last as long as they say it would be worth it.

Would love to hear opinions and experiences from non-conultants. How easy are they really to use? How long do they last? I usually chip my manicures within a day or 2 so i am not "gentle" with my nails.

Well I just started using them. I have a relative who has been hawking them on facebook for months. So I asked her to send me samples. It does take a little practice.

Right now I have my second full set on, so I don't have tons of experience. They have been on exactly one week and look like I just put them on. Full disclosure...she gave me a 1/2 off coupon to order the gel system with it. So, this set has the wraps with a clear gel coat on top. That is supposed to extend the life.

The biggest problem I have is getting the very tip of the nail smooth, without fraying the wrap. I did have to go out a buy some different "grit" nail blocks and the finer ones seem to work better.

You don't need to buy the heater. You can use a hair dryer (I thought that was a pain) or a tea light (easier). Since I was buying all this stuff I decided to go on ebay and get a heater too (it was about $15)

I did notice on ebay that lots of people are selling half sheets. I am going to do this for any special holiday wraps. I wouldn't want a full sheet of Easter bunnies...LOL

I am not a consultant. I am a 43 yo woman who always has issues with polish lasting.

I haven't used Jamberry but tried nail wraps that I bought at Sallys Beauty Supply. They were a huge pain and didn't last very long. It was hard to remove the excess wrap without tearing the edges. Where the edges got torn, they started peeling and chipping and soon as my first hair wash.

I have a friend who sells and wears Jamberry all the time, and to be honest, I'm never super impressed at how they look. She may just be bad at applying them, I don't know. But I never think they look good. I'm not sure what the cost of Jamberry is, but I get gelish manicures at nail salons and am always pretty happy with it. They usually last about 2 weeks before they start looking bad, and they usually only start looking bad because my nail has grown out so much. My nails grow fast. I usually pay about $30 for a gelish manicure, and it takes about 20 minutes from the time I sit down until I'm leaving.

I have very curved nails....side to side. I do have an issue getting to lie flat. I have to cut little gussets in each side. It's kind of a pain. I love the different designs though. I don't do all my nails with them....sometimes just the pinkie nail.

I have only tried them once. I rarely wear polish on my fingernails because, like you, I am hard on them and they chip within a day or so.

A friend (well, several) sell and swear by jamberry nails, and one of them did an "accent nail" on each hand as a sample for me. Here's my take: It did last longer than nail polish. The one on my dominant hand started to peel back at about 4 days, but I kept it on for 6 (it wasn't too bad at first). My non-dominant hand stayed on better, but I took it off when I took the other one off. My polish generally only lasts 1-2 days without getting messed up, so that's 2-3 times longer than polish, but not "several weeks" like my friend claims hers last.

However, it wasn't quite right and if you looked at my nail, you could see gaps in places. I'm not sure if she put them on poorly or if I have weird nails or what. (Hers looked pretty much perfect.) Finally, I felt like they looked kind of like stickers on my nails.

I decided they were not "my thing," and I haven't purchased any despite several very persistent sellers in my social circle.

I've never used jamberry but have used other nail wraps and love them! I always get compliments and they're super easy to do.

I don't like (and have a really hard time applying) the Sally Hansen nail polish strips.

If you have a dollar tree close by, I'd recommend checking it out. They often have the Essie nail strips (I love those, especially at $1 each). Even when they don't have the Essie versions they always have their brand. I'd recommend getting some of these to practice on. It does take a little getting to know what size fits your nails and how to adjust etc.

I also really like the Nailipop brand (just google) as they have great patterns but I find they don't hold up as well as a few of the other brands.

I have a bunch of them (two friends sell them) - I've successfully (I guess) put them on my 7yr old DD. I don't find them any easier to put on my own right hand than polish (translation - I'm lousy at both). DD's had them on for 5 days. Two fingers are decidedly raggedy. I want to love them... but they just look too much like stickers to me.

(I really prefer gel or ANC from my local nail salon for myself and it lasts 2-3 weeks instead of just 4 or 5 days)

I am wearing Jamberry wraps right now.. I'm giving them a second chance after not liking them the first time around.
They are difficult to work with & I find they peel up at the cuticle as your nail begins to grow out.
I love the new Minnie & Ariel selections and am hoping for the best with the set I have on now before ordering them...

So far, not working out - again. Peeling up like mad.

Ulta has them. They take a bit to learn how to apply. But they last quite a while.

I would stay away from Jamberry. Once you buy from one of their consultants, they will hound you forever.

I wear Jamberries frequently. They really did take a couple sets to get the application process down. Now I can put a set on and have it last 10 days to 2 weeks before I change them. I watched a couple of youtube videos (I also use a hair dryer). I like using the plastic baggie method. I usually change mine because I want a new design not because they are coming off. I have thin nails that seem to break easily so wearing Jamberries actually helps me keep them longer than wearing only polish or nothing.

I think the point about the consultants hounding you is unfair. It really depends on the consultant. I have an old friend who sells them, she maybe emails me once a month and that's usually only if there is a big sale coming and to thank me for my order. I think you can also order directly from the website without a consultant.

I want to love Jamberry. I really do. But I don't.

The nail wraps just do not fit my nails. The base of the wrap that you apply at the base of your cuticle is so perfectly rounded, it doesn't fit the more squared shape of my cuticles. This leaves a gap which begins to peel after the first day. I also end up either having to cut a larger wrap to fit my nail or have a gap along the side of my nail and the wrap. I find it difficult to get a smooth end of the nail as well. I will end up with a crease which isn't all that noticeable to the eye, but I can feel it and it drives me nuts!

I have the Jamberry heater, have read all of their tips and even watched videos, but mine never turn out the way they are advertised. The longest I've ever kept them on is 10 days. There is no way I could imagine them lasting for weeks. It takes me 30-45 minutes to do wraps on all of my fingernails. I'd rather get a gel manicure- it's faster and lasts longer. I also have no idea how one would apply them to toenails for a pedicure. Seems much harder than just painting toenails.

I have circus party on right now (adult size) and my teen son asked me why I have nails like a 12 year old girl...LOL
I like it though. I work in a school and not a corporate environment.

Could be that there a few that don't hound you.

But their paycheck depends on you ordering.

Of course if someone emailed me every month, I would tell them to leave me alone. And that I will contact them if I want anything. Much like I do with stores. If I want something I show up. They don't call me to remind me about a special.

I had a Jamberry party and ended up getting 15 sets plus their little heater for all of 78 dollars because my friends all spent a lot of money! lol

That being said, while I LOVE Jamberry nails, I realize it's not for everyone. You really do need a good small heater to set them right, as using a hair dryer is a pain in the rear. I was lucky that I was getting such a huge discount with multiple sets of free nails, otherwise I probably wouldn't have spent the money on the Jamberry heater.

However, once I got past the heater thing, they last a LOT longer than nail polish, at least for me. Generally when I paint my nails, they end up chipping in 48 hours. I'm just that hard on my nails. Jamberry wraps will last me almost two weeks. Instead of seeing all the jagged chips like I do with nailpolish, I end up removing them because my nails have begun to grow out too much.

One set of wraps costs about 17 dollars Canadian, but you get two uses out of them. So you'd have to divide the price in half to truly understand how much it costs per set.

I would stay away from Jamberry. Once you buy from one of their consultants, they will hound you forever.

I didn't have to hear it anywhere. I lived it. Endless posts on facebook. Message after message. "I bet you can't wait to hear about my special." Or, "my director challenged me to call xxxx number of people by the end of the week."

Remember, the salesperson's job is to sell. That is what she does. She needs more and more customers, having more and more parties. Ideally, your friends will become consultants, because that is where the "real" money is.

For those looking for nail wraps, try those at Ulta or from Amazon. Cheaper and just as good, if not better. And you don't have to listen to the recruiting spiel every time you buy them.
