I've already bumped into a few others going to the NAEYC conference in some other threads, so I thought I'd see if there was anyone else out there who will be attending. Are you planning on wearing a LGMH (Lime Green Mickey Head)? Is anyone else planning on attending CAEYC's special event at DCA on Thursday night? Anyone planning on going to "Were cartoons always for children? The surprising legacy of Walter Elias Disney to early childhood education" on Friday? If it weren't an all-day presentation, I'd seriously consider going, but I have fifteen other workshops that look fantastic competing with that time slot.

great organization. I sent my child to NAEYC accredited schools!

They have really strict accreditation standards. It's a good way to narrow down a search!

I like how they've been able to tie in a few Disney themed workshops into the conference schedule. They also announced the availability of Twilight Tickets about a week ago, so I think more attendees are now planning on heading to the parks after the workshops end for the day. I sure wish the parks were open later on Wednesday and Thursday nights! Oddly, Disneyland is only scheduled to be open until 11PM on Saturday night. I kept thinking that was a mistake and they would change that, but so far it's stuck.

Hey there! The hours are ridiculous! Only 2 early mornings and the other days nothing opens until 10 am (which stinks for us as we'll be on eastern time for several days). Granted I'm not doing any conferencing, but between the rehab rides and hours - it may be a long week. Hope you make it to my husbands presentation Thursday :)

The featured workshop he is presenting is on my "definitely" list!

At least you'll be able to take advantage of the three Magic Mornings! I actually don't think the rehab list is too bad for "off season". I wish SM had kept it's overlay for a few more days, but I'll be very happy to get on HM Holiday. We missed that when we were there in September.

CAEYC just sent an e-mail letting people who bought the Celebration of Imagination tickets know that they will get a free evening ticket to enter DCA at 6:00 before the event. I don't know if you need to show your event ticket as well, but if not, I have an AP and would be happy to pass along my evening park ticket.

I was bummed to miss IASA Holiday and Roger Rabbit. Its kind of funny - a couple of things are going down for a day or two early in the week (SM, Pirates, Columbia). I know the off season thing...just stinks as we only get out there about once every 10 years. DS6 was pretty sad about Roger Rabbit. Its just a little doubly frustrating when the hours are also short - but again I know its off season.

Honestly I'm thankful to be going - ultimately its NAEYC that we're there at all.

Make sure you say hi to DR - I'll tell him a fell Disboarder will be there! He's usually pretty entertaining - a bit of a Matlock type.

I'll be there too! Myself, my director, and two of my fellow teachers. We are doing the NAEYC tour in LA on Friday night, and hoping to buy a discounted Disneyland ticket for one of the nights we are there. The hours are not good though :sad2: Not sure if it will be worth the cost or not, for just 3 or 4 hours.

I am really looking forward to going though. I still have not received my catalog with the workshops listed! Last time I went, it took me DAYS to make up a schedule with 1st choices and alternate choices. I guess I know what I'll be doing on the long flight there! :thumbsup2

Where are you all staying? We'll be at the Sheraton Park something or other....

Oh, I really wish I would go, but I'm still in school. I went to the Michigan AEYC conference last year and really learned a lot. I probably won't be able to go next year because I'll be student teaching...maybe in two years...but then it probably won't be in Anaheim...:sad2:

NAEYC is no longer sending out a hard copy of the final program- saves on cost, environmental impact, etc. (You can access the final program now on the conference website- but it's just not the same!).

This will be my first time in Southern California- I cannot wait! I'm going to the CAEYC event on Thursday, and I was so excited to get the email telling me about the early admission that night! I'm also planning on hitting the parks on Friday...I just have to figure out how to balance workshops with Disney fun!:yay:

My husband used to teach at MSU! Go Green! They have such a wonderful early childhood program there - our son went to the CDL for 2 years before we moved to TN. We have many dear friends in East Lansing and many an afternoon we spend craving a Crunchy Burger

I read that after I posted. Wah! I tried looking stuff up on line, but there is just too much info, and certainly too much to print. I guess we'll have to wing it on Wednesday morning. Or at least, plan our Wed. from the on-line info, and then scan the hard copy for Thursday and Friday sessions.

We aren't going to the CAEYC event, but now I wish we were. As for Disney fun, I kind of wish I were paying for myself, so I could have a little more of it! But, since my the preschool pays for me to be there (nearly all expenses paid!), I guess I need to have more work than play...;)

Does nayone know just how close the convention center is to the Disney entrance? It looks like close walking distance on the hotl map, but it's hard to tell. I'll be staying at the Anaheim Marriott, which I believe is right next to the convention center.

It's not too far. Just on the other side of Katella. If you are walking from the Convention Center, you can cross Katella to West St./Disneyland Drive and then walk through the Grand Californian Hotel to Downtown Disney and on to the parks. Though I haven't tried this personally, apparently you can also enter the "hotel guest only" entrance to DCA inside the GCH if you show a receipt from a purchase at the GCH.
