On CNN and Fox news right now, N.K. has just launched their first nuclear test.

What do you think the future holds for N. Korea.

What future?

I was watching this last night on CNN. Wonder if China will now support sanctions.

When China gets involved, it won't be to sanction. If China gets involved in a war, it'll utterly and completely destroy her opposition. No sanctions, no pretty-please, no 18 chances with the United Nations.

I don't know when China will decide it is in her best interests to be rid of this lunatic, but when she does, it will be DONE. It'll be fast, effective, and over quickly.

That's my prediction.

I would say economic sanctions out the wazoo, but how much tougher can you make it on teh poor civilians of N Korea? :confused3 Sanctions probably won't have enough effect on the nutball leader they have. I expect another round of multilateral talks, a windbag speech at the UN, and then on to the next news topic. blah blah blah

what we have now is another country with capability they won't use. but they'll be more than willing to pass it along to the highest bidder.

The thing I thought horrifying was in Kim's speech, he claims that radiation doesn't harm people - so he blew that thing up near his own people. Bad enough he starves them while stockpiling money for weapons of mass destruction. REAL ones.

But, hey, there's no oil there, so no threat. Right?

According to various news sources this morning, there is world wide condemnation... even China.

A mad man with a nuclear devise, this is a very bad situation.

That would be exactly right.... Remind me, did Saddam have nuclear capability he was testing out? I can't recall that one accurately :confused3

Crazy....

I wonder what Japan's reaction will be. This is right on their doorstep. I doubt that more talk by the UN will any difference to the lunatic leader of N. Korea. Will Japan take steps on their own? I'm certainly no expert. Is Japan in danger from radiation carried by the wind?
