MYW Tickets purchased with Dining Plan

Hopefully someone can help me out with this. We are heading down to the world 5/21 but not checking into WL until 5/22. Since our first day is mostly travel we are going to stay at DD the first night for free with hotel points. I am interested in purchasing the dining plan but do not need the MYW tickets, but would go ahead and purchase them if I could use/upgrade them later. I am traveling with 2-13yo boys and we all already have our tickets. My problem is I do not want to be stuck with 2 tickets that are in the boys names on their room key card. I would like to use them for myself and other members of my family at later dates. I read on these boards that if you purchase the Dining Plan package you could pick your tickets only up earlier than when your plan actually starts so I had planned on doing that at DD so that the tickets would not be on the room key cards. When I called Disney to add the dining plan to my room the CM told me that I would not be able to pick my park tickets up early and that they HAD to be on our room key cards. Has anyone tried this recently? Is this just some more bad info from a CM or is this true? Thanks for your input.

I think the following answers your question...this is taken from the sticky at the top of Theme Parks & Attractions...was written by a Disboards member who works in ticketing at Disney World. Looks like you should be able to get your tickets early, and they will be separate from your KTTW (hotel key & dining package) Don't know if they put the names on the tickets, though.

I. Picking up Package Tickets Prior To Start Of Package

In cases where Walt Disney World Resort Guests would like to begin using their Package Tickets prior to the day of check-in (up to three days in advance), the Guests will be directed to visit any Theme Park Guest Relations location and request Early Ticket Pick-Up.

It is only valid for people with packages at a Walt Disney World owned and operated Resort. You can be staying off-property at the time you pick up the tickets. Note that if you have a package which includes Dining, although you can pick up your tickets early you cannot get access to the Dining until you have actually checked in to your Resort.

There is a possibility that if your package and the stay prior to the package are at the same Resort that you will be able to get the tickets at the Resort and not have to go to a Park Guest Relations Office.

And the tickets issued will be valid for the entire stay; they will not receive valid tickets when they actually check-in to their resort. There is a strong possibility that the tickets you have received prior to check-in cannot be added to your KTTW on or after check-in.

Thanks catne, I had already read that but was wondering if this had changed since the OP posted that info and the CM told me it was not possible?

You can always rely on Cheshire Figment's ticketing information to be up to date and accurate.

That ticketing info is correct--posted by a Disboarder who actually works in ticketing at Disney World. It is up to date.

Unfortunately...it's the helpful telephone reservation CMs that are quite often thoroughly confused about how things work. Keep in mind most of them are in call centers that are not even in the Orlando area (many are in Tampa, over on the Gulf Coast) Quite a few of them have never even been to Disney World, much less used the products/packages they're talking about. I like to compare the reservation CMs to the IRS help line...call 10 times with the same question and you'll get 10 different people with 10 different answers. Crazy-making :dance3:

In most cases, you really will get far better info by reading & researching online forums like this one.

Thanks again catne for your help. Do you think I would be safe with just adding the dining plan and then going to the ticket center @ DD and picking up my tickets early like I had wanted to or is there some special arrangement I need to make to pick them up early? And just when I thought I knew everything about DW, I had no idea some of the phone CM's were in a different location? That just seems unmouselike doesn't it? (yes that is a word.....on here:rotfl2:) Thanks again.

If you're not going to any park the 21st, just pick up everything when you check in on the 22nd. Then either at that time if the front desk can do it, or at Lobby Concierge, or at Guest Services at any park, get the boys' park tickets separated from their room keys and issued as plain, nameless ;) tickets.
