With the new dining plan add on if we stay 10 nights that gets us 10 counter meals, 10 sit-down and 10 snacks. So does anyone know if you can use 2 counters meals and 1 snack in one day and 2 sit-down meals another day, or 2 snack in 1 day and no snacks another and so on? As long as it all adds up to 10 each? And if you use up everything before your stays is over, then you are on your own? Or do you have to use 1 of each, each day and if you don't use it, you lose it? Just wondering because this really sounds like a good deal for $35/adult and $10/child. I usually budget $50/person/day and with this dining option I could save $1700 for our 10 day vacation for the 8 of us. :D

I don't know. I was wondering the same thing, especially since it's based on the number of NIGHTS you are there. We leave late on our last day, and I would like to do a sit-down meal then. I also would like to do 2 sit-down meals on one of the days of our trip.

that you can switch meals around as you please (and trade sitdowns for luxury meals or shows, i.e. 2 sit downs = Hoop De Doo...)

What I want to know is can you purchase a meal plan apart from an overall package? I already have an awesome rate for POFQ ($95 including tax in early feb) and don't want to stay at a value resort...

The dining plan option states: "Meal options are flexible and can be used in a varierty of combinations, including multiple meal options in any one day...". So, my read on that is that, yes, you should be able to do the combinations in your post.

I think that for $35.00 per person, this sounds like a great deal for our family. We traditionally do eat one counter service and one sit down meal per day. We often eat a light breakfast of granola bars, fruit, etc in our room. Food usually costs us between $700-$900, including tips, for a week (2 adults and 1 11 yo), and we for sure do not each order an appetizer and dessert along with an entree for our sitdown meals. The meal plan would cost our family $735 for 7 nights and appears to give us more food for less money than we traditionally receive on our trips, which sounds good to me!

Yes, you can switch the meals around. You can do 3 counter service in one day and two sit downs another.

I don't know for sure, but I believe the dining package is totally seperate from anything else and can be added no matter where you stay.

In order to get the Meal Add on, you'll need to purchase a ticket and resort package. Its not clear to me yet whether or not you can apply that to discount coded rooms, or if you need to book at rack rate.

I don't think you can piece it together, though.

If that's the case, that stinks. I do understand how they would limit it to Resort guests only. But geesh, to not be able to get the best rate and the dining option too, figures. :(

Where can you get the nitty gritty details about the dining package? On the official DisneyWorld site I could only find about a paragraph's worth of very general info. Even so, this package sounds like a very good deal. On our last trip, we ate at a sit down restaurant at least once a day, (we usually just had an entree and drink), ate counter service for most lunches, and had a snack at some point. With two adults and two children, most days we spent at least $100. For the four of us the dining package would only be $90 a day - and that's for even more food than we usually order. I would like to know, however, all the details about the package before we buy - esp. if Dole Whips are included!!

Actually the Mousesavers list of participating restaurants is not up to date from what I've seen and heard. For instance Brown Derby is now a signature dining.

I haven't searched 'Disneys' site for very long looking for the list of 100 participating in the dining option restaraunts, but if they actually have an official Disney list-it shouldn't be hard to find. I think that us "OVERPLANNERS" would find it helpful.

Unfortunately, I'm hearing more and more bad things about the dining plan and packages. For one, you can't book a package for more than 8 nights and that only includes 7 day tickets, and I've heard from some people when they called Disney Dining that there are very few restaurants at Epcot you can go to(Like 5), I have sent an e-mail to Disney with some questions(LIke a list of restaurants). I will let everyone here now what I heard when I get the e-mail.

I had heard the list wasn't accurate but it is better than nothing. When I looked through the FAQ on Disney's site I found this blurb.

Q. What restaurants are included in the Disney Dining Plan?
A. The Disney Dining Plan can be used at over 100 counter-service and table-service locations across Walt Disney World® Resort. Look for the "Disney Dining Plan symbol" in your park guide maps for the locations in the Theme Parks or consult the restaurant listing in the Disney Dining Plan brochure.

I wonder how I can get a copy of the brochure. Maybe someone who is at Disney now can get a list of the restaurants from the guide maps.

Here's the list off the Disney World website:

That's the great thing about DIS. You ask for something and it magically appears. Thanks. Now if I just knew how many times I have to keep checking the file as they fine tune the locations.

I repriced my room-only reservation, just last night, adding the dining, and tickets, and yes, :sad2: the room went to rack-rate. We were not getting that big of a discount, so the dining still is a fairly good deal, however, if a cheaper room-rate becomes available for our stay, it will be back to number crunching.

At $90.00 per day, our family (2 adults + 2 kids), seems to save $$. We looked at our old reciepts, and at most of the sit-down rest. were close to that amount with tax, and tip. then add the counter-service, and snack, and it seems like a no-brainer.

I have a 9 year old, that likes to order off the adult menu, so she is a little peeved that she has to order the kids stuff. I quieted her down, by telling her, she could pick my appetizer when we go. we figure with 2 app, 2 entrees, and 2 desserts, that there will be MORE than enough.

I think it will be kind of nice, to have everything paid for ahead of time, and not have to think about it, once there.

I was a bit disapointed by the Epcot choices too. Luckily, Rose and Crown, was a Do for this trip, anyway.

I don't like the list either, most restaurants we enjoy are not on there and I'm wondering what is the point of lettting you choose an appetizer, entree, desert, and soda if most of the places on the list are buffets where everything is included

Sorry just had to vent
