One day at Epcot DH put his card in and before he put his fingers it it gave him access and let him in. The CM didn't say anything. Even with mine the card came back out just as I started to put my finger in. It was just this one day it occured.

Also every other amusement park I go to has metal detectors, but not at Disney. And when they check your bag they just do a quick peek into the main compartment. You can really bring anything in...not very good checkers.

They're probably tired of all the problems...The CM had to "take a new picture" of my hand about 85% of the time.

That happened to us on Mother's Day morning at Epcot, the passes shot out before we even put our fingers in. The cm whispered to me that they were turned off to speed up the lines.

The Disney bag check is a joke. They make it look like going through the bag check lines makes everyone safe. Meanwhile, if you have no bags, you go straight in, with who knows what under your jacket or in your pocket. Half the time they barely look in the bag.

Well, although I agree about bag search, the "finger scan" has nothing to do with security. The biometrics scan with the pass is simply to verify that the person using the pass is the person who purchased the pass. This (along with the hand stamp) prevents me from using the pass at the MK in the morning and my sister from using the pass at Epcot in the evening. It also prevents me from using 2-3 days this week and my sister using 2-3 days next month.

WDW has never used metal dectors and the bag search I agree is a joke, although I have seen some very intersting items confiscated ??

WDW does have a very high presence of security in the parks, even though you don't see them unless its necessary. If you are ever unlucky enough to witness an altercation - security appears immediately from almost everywhere.

FWIW we visited Washingon DC and the bag searches at the smithsonian and at some of the monuments were just as silly and IMHO more deserving of security than WDW. Other places of interste were as secure as the airport so it varies.

The finger scan never worked for me! I did exactly what I was supposed to, but each time, the cm had to do something to get it to work. :confused3
