Can you buy a 1 day MYW ticket and then after use it upgrade to a military ticket? If so how much would that cost? I dont quite get the conversion to upgrade - you pay the difference is that right? So if a one day ticket with park hopper is $136 and then I upgrade it to the military ticket I pay $2 for an extra day and end up with a total of 5 days? Is that right?

The key is you do not get an extra day.

If you take a one-day ticket and upgrade to an Armed Forces Salute ticket, it is as if you had the ticket from the start and already used the first day. So you are correct on the pricing, but wrong on the number of days.

Or, actually, any upgrade adding days to any ticket; the new ticket is not "new" but a continuation of the original tickets with that ticket's history; all you have done is add additional entitlements.

Ok thanks for clarifying that. I am glad there are so many people here that can help out because otherwise I would be lost. I thought I had read someone say they did that but it didnt make any sense to me.

I am not sure what the 2011 military offer is. We will be going to WDW in November. We want a 5 day park ticket. We do not want a hopper ticket or need access to the waterparks. What is the best deal for us? We are DVC owners and active duty military

Probably your best bet would be to buy a five day base ticket from either SoG or your military base MWR/ITT office. There will be a small discount from the gate price, but you will not have to pay tax. If you go to the locked sticky Everything About WDW Tickets in the TPA&S Forum, especially Post #17, you can get a lot more information on the Armed Forces Salute tickets. An easy way to get to the sticky is by clicking on the link in my signature.
