MYW more expensive at CDN TDS

I am holding two brochures that Disney probably never intended should be held side-by-side. One is the MYW brochure I picked up at The Disney Store in Buffalo, NY on January 3. The other is the exact same brochure, but with Canadian pricing, I picked up at TDS at Lime Ridge Mall in Hamilton, ON today. Suffice to say, the exact same tickets are cheaper at American TDS's.

The Canadian pricing was calculated assuming a Canadian dollar worth $0.765 US. A 7 day MYW adult base ticket costs $260.13 CDN vs $199 US

The only tickets available at CDN Disney Stores are the Base Tickets -- tickets with PH option, Magic Plus option or Premium tickets are available by special order only.

To answer the eternal question that has often been asked here -- the answer is "Yes." Disney admission tickets purchased in Canada include the Florida State Tax -- so says the brochure.

The lesson learned here: don't buy your Disney MYW tickets at a Canadian Disney Store unless the Canadian dollar experiences significant depreciation against the US greenback.

It's hard to decide where to buy your tickets but every Canadian I have spoken to buys them in the US not at the Disney store for the simple reason that you have explained. Us poor Canadians getting hit again !

I was in LimeRidge on Thursday as well!! That is the closest Disney store to my home, I also have a store in the mall. Happy shopping!

Wow. Great sleuth work, RoyalCanadian. It never occurred to me that a Canadian retailer (i.e. a Canadian TDS) would be charging and remitting U.S. retail sales tax on a purchase made in Canada. I am wondering whether Canadian wholesalers (who sell to Canada travel agents) are as "diligent" in this regard, as they would presumably not have been charged retail tax on their purchase from their supplier for resale.

If you want the advance purchase price order from Disney directly or for a bit cheaper through places like ticketmania.

You customize your own ticket now. e.g.- If you buy a 4 day base ticket this allows you to enter any one of the 4 parks on 4 seperate days. You cannot park hop, hit the water parks, and this ticket will also expire.

You purchase the number of days you want then add on any extra features you might want like park hopping.

I have made some inquiries to booking my disney trip through united states online travel agents and it is cheaper to book through them then to book here.
In Canada someone quoted me at 3700.00 and another at 3900.00 plus the dining option still to pay on top.
So with the other I get 2018.56 us so canadian it is 2506.39
The top two included airfare but after doign more checking
To fly out of Buffalo right now on swa the flight cost would be 736.20 us so canadian it ends up being 898.97
So when you add it together you get 3405.00 . BOoking with disney specialists they look for codes so it might even get lower and watching for seat sales for swa it might get lower too.
This is what I learnt so far this is my first trip but I am sure glad I shopped around.

I expect fair pricing for Disney guests purchasing their tickets in Canada.

The MYW tickets went on sale on Jan. 2 when the Canadian dollar was valued at approximately $0.81 US. The Canadian dollar has not been below $0.80 US in over 3 months. Historical charts suggest that the value of the Canadian dollar hasn't been at approx. $0.765 US since about mid-September 2004.

The previous system of selling WDW ticket media at Canadian TDS involved a sale price that occasionally fluctuated with the value of the Canadian dollar. The printed brochure would suggest a less flexible approach for MYW tickets.

I got my tickets from mapleleaftickets.com (thanks Deb), and paid in US$, charged at the current rate for my AMEX. It was a lot cheaper than anything else I was quoted.

I'm also a satisfied Maple Leaf Tickets customer. I'd use them again for our next trip, except that we still have 5 days left on our 10 day tickets sitting in my dresser drawer.

I understood when I bought a park hopper last year we do not pay the taxes because we buy in Canada, but this doesn't make sense when compared with Maple Leaf price quoted now (Maple Leaf is a bit cheaper). I'm looking into Maple Leaf now. I still like the thought of having the tickets in my hot little hands before we go

I bought some Universal tickets online - special deal one kid free per adult, and this is a promo that we pick up the tickets at a kiosk at Universal. (I paid $383 US for six tickets for Universal for five consecutive days which works out to about $60 a ticket! Wish Disney would do that offer!) Would still like to have the ticket in my hand! Just me. Hyper planner I guess!

I actually used to be a CM at TDS and the way the tickets work is that the Disney Store doesnt make any money off them ( this was when they were actually owned by Disney) That they did it as a convience for Walt Disney World and that's why they could put the taxes in the price.

We looked at all the prices comparing TDS to getting our tickets online with Disneyworld.com. We ended up going with Disneyworld.com because they would be right there at the hotel when we checked in and with TDS we would have had to special order them and with less than two weeks to go before we are leaving I didnt want to take the chance.
