Do you have to buy park tickets to have the dining plan? If not does anyone have a website to check out prices etc? We have enough days left over from October for this year's and next years trip, so we don't want to purchase more at this time. Also does a caracter meal count as a table service? thanks Kathy

Yes you have to buy atleast a one day ticket for each person in your party. Not sure about credits for character meals.

If you are staying in a resort hotel, then you MUST purchase at least a one day base ticket to be eligible for the dining plan. HOWEVER, Disney announced recently that DVC may now purchase the Dining plan (w/o purchasing tickets) and that this perk is available to DVC renters, also. The cost is $37.99/day for adults and $10.99/day per child and must be purchased for all people staying on the DVC reservation for the length of stay (same rules as apply to the Dining plan w/ a vacation package at a resort.)

Here is the new Disney Dining Brochure regarding what is included: Disney Dining Brochure
Basically, all the character meals count as 1 TS credit/person, except CRT, which is 2 TS credits/person. The Brochure is pretty self-explanatory and easy to read.

I recently picked up a AAA WDW vacation packages brochure and it said that as of February 1, 2006, all character meals would be 2 TS credits. Anyone heard anything about that?

No, I hadn't heard about that. I sure hope not, we're doing the dining plan in Oct.....We just used it in Dec. and it was wonderful!

That is incorrect.

I truly hope this is not true. Also, there doesn't seem to be much financial sense in that. Generally character meals (most of them are buffets) run @ $24/adult and $12/child. A regular sit-down meal at most restaurants runs much more than that per adult by the time you add an appetizer, entree, and dessert. (Kids, okay, the buffets are a little more expensive than what you would spend in a regular restaurant.) I hope this is just confusion about CRT becoming a 2 TS meal! Otherwise, I will have to completely rethink my dining plans for Sept/Oct and maybe not get the dining plan after all.
