MYW Dining Plan vs. DDE

I'm an AP holder and I have the DDE card which gets you 20% off your meals. How does this compare to the MYW dining option? Is there a website I can go to that explains the MYW dining? Will it really save me more money? Would it save me more than using the DDE card? Please help explain it all...thank you.

You can only use MYW dining if you are on a MYW dining/ticket package, room-only and AP ressies are not elligible.

You can get more for your money with the MYW dining in many ways, but then again DDE is much more flexible. You don't have to do the whole three-course meal thing, and you aren't tied down as much.

MYW Dining won't work for you. You won't be able to get an AP discount on your room and you'll have to pay a minimum of around $50 for a one day park pass. Mousesavers has a comparison between the two. Basically the savings from using MYW Dining won't be enough to compensate for the higher room rate. It gets even worse if you assume savings from using DDE for drinks and if you don't always want to order dessert and appetizers.

Yeah, it bothers me that annual passholders don't have the option of adding the dining plan as long as they are booking a resort stay as well. Also Disney vacation club owners cannont participate in the dining plan. It would seem Disney is stopping two groups of their most loyal customers from taking part in their great new plan. I know DDE is great, but still I would like the option.

I would thing DDE would be better if you order alcohol, that can really raise your bill and it's nice to get the 20% off! Also, we don't always order desert, but we are really big appetizer people, even our kids. If you don't normally want a desert (or are too full), the DDE may be better because you can order just drinks, apps and entrees and get 20% off your total.
I do think the MYW dining is a good deal though. We are DVC members and PAP holders so, we can't use it. We are however planning on using the DDE card and can't wait!
