Myw Dining @ Ohana's

I'm sure we'll be stuffed too, but if comes with the meal... put it in a to-go box and save it until the next day or have it for a late night snack.

If this policy truly has been changed and you can no longer get the dessert at Ohana I am upset. If Disney is going to start getting ticky-tack with this then....

It does not make sense to me that I can go to any number of TS restaurants and eat well over a $100 meal and yet at Ohana I can't get a dessert???????????

We were just there on the 18th and were told that the only desert that came with the Dining Plan was the pineapple/carmel dip since that is all that comes with the buffet. The brochure that you receive with the dining plan says that for table service meals you get 1 appetizer, 1 entree, 1 desert, and 1 single serving non-alcoholic beverage OR 1 full buffet and 1 single serving non-alcoholic beverage.

The pineapples are the dessert.

Disney has been making changes to plan for awhile now. Some of the changes are in our favor, some are not. No matter what, I find it hard to get upset when I'm getting so much food for just $35.00 per night.

hrmm..... I'm sure I'll still enjoy the dinner at O'hanas however I will still push the issue while I'm there. Or I might just eat the caramel... I don't like pineapple (unless it is blended up, added to OJ, and has lots of rum!) :teeth:

I've never been to a buffet that only has 1 dessert....

I heard a lot of people adding items to their entree and I can totally understand them removing that. I mean getting a $30 steak and then adding lobster and shrimp... that is a bit much to ask for to be on the plan.

If the pineapples are supposed to be the dessert why do they come over and tempt me with the real desserts on a tray?

We had desserts on ours when we went the beginning of May. I am glad I had plenty of room. THey charged us for the slushie drinks though my dd and I had becuase I read some other ppl had it added on. Our server disappeared once he gave us the bill so thought forget I wont mention it I will just pay for them. THey were quite expensive .
thanks Diane

I don't think it's unfair for them to remove the desserts from the dining plan since their buffet includes a dessert.

There's nothing to stop you from paying the extra $4.00-$5.00 for another dessert.

I have a feeling there will be many changes to the dining plan in the near future. I'm sure it's just a matter of time before they stop adults from using kids ($10.00) credits for adult meals.

I agree with you disneyjunkie! Ever since MYW dining was introduced, I've been thinking that there's no way Disney is going to keep it as introduced. They are going to start seeing the bottom line to this and be forced to make adjustments. It's inevitable...

We were allowed the dessert when we were there on the 7th. But I enjoyed the pineapple/caramel much more so than the dessert! With all the desserts we ate on the dining plan that week we were starting to get tired of "desserts".

One thing we found at the Concourse Steakhouse (where the filet was incredible!) was that we could add the grilled shrimp to our entree but that had to count as our appetizer.

This is what bothers me. We all seemed to be able to understand and appreciate what a great deal this was and what all of the possibilities were. Are we to believe Disney could not foresee this? Disney spends the winter getting all of us summer travelers to buy the dining plan and then just as summer rolls around the perks start to disappear.. hmmm

As for the changes made supposedly for our benefit(adding restaurants at Epcot and DTD, etc) I attribute that to competion. These non-disney owned restaurants were feeling the sting of not being on the dining plan. I know that we had not made ps's anywhere that did not accept the dining plan.

I am a little disappointed that a choice of dessert will not be included BUT I am not surprised at these changes.

I think if you buy a meal plan, you should play by the rules. If you dine at a buffet, you get what they serve (even if it's only once choice of dessert and your beverage.

If you buy children credits, children should use them NOT adults eating way more than the $10 spent for them. That is downright wrong IMO.

Is anyone REALLY surprised at the changes?

Personally, although it's delicious, I would not consider the pineapple and caramel a dessert. In January each of the four of us got our own dessert using the plan and I too would be upset if now they're changing it. :(

I too thought there would be some changes but it is unfair to change the plan in the middle of the game. I would have thought that Disney would have anticipated these things happening. I have a PS scheduled for here in June and I was excited about trying the dessert. I guess we can just ask and see. Who knows maybe it is just up to the server. I will enjoy the pineapple and caramel regardless. After eating there last year I have fixed it for about every party and get together I have attended.
