I did a search and cannot find the answer I'm looking for. I've read where some people don't make reservations and use their room key instead. My DS14 and I are making our first trip to Universal May 31-June 3:cool1: and I'm lost as to which restaurants need reservations and which we can just rely on our room key. We are interested in NBA (ugh), Margaritaville, Bubba Gump, Mythos and Bob Marley. Which of these would be ok for lunch if we can't get in for supper?

I'm guessing when I walk up to the hostess I just show her my room key and tell her table for 2. That's going to feel a tad bit weird like I'm flashing a badge or something. HA! I also bought an AP so do I need to show that as well?

the hotel key isn't like a reservation but a priority seating.
it lessens your wait.

bubba's and m'ville probably won't honor the hotel key for priority seating.
they fill their places on the weekends regularly even without the hotel guests being present.

your ap will allow you a discount of 10% off of most city walk eateries.
tell the server in advance before your check comes.
if not, the bill can be adjusted if you remember the ap discount before you pay.

you can make reservations at city walk.
there is a TM at the booth that will set them up for you.

i have made same day ressies and a few a couple days out at www.opentable.com

:thumbsup2

Adding I would hit Mythos for lunch. We find that if you hit any sit down not during normal peak times you normally walk in or short wait. Without BG and Margaritaville taking the room key I would hit them before the 5-6 dinner hour and later. Maybe arrive around 4:30-5:00. We hit Mythos around 11:30:11:45 for lunch.

We will be there also for that weekend at RPR.

We flashed a room key at Mythos on a Saturday. Instead of the then 30 minute wait, they told us it would be 15 minutes. I also see that you can reserve Mythos through OpenTable now.

FWIW, we actually enjoyed NBA City when we were there and went back a couple of times. I believe it is owned/operated by the same group that owns/operated the Hard Rock. None of are basketball fans, we just enjoyed the food.

I'd still vote for Mythos, but you might be surprised by NBA City. It is also a little more convenient than the rest (obviously except for Mythos) since it is between US and IOA and you don't need to go over to CityWalk.

i love NBA City .........great food each time i am there.

i'm not there for the sports but the menu.

my trips to the darkside are longer than most visitors so i always hit NBA City at least once each time.

Thank you for telling me this! I was imagining horrible, overpriced food.

Thank you everyone for the advice! I made reservations at Margaritaville on that Saturday and will do Mythos for lunch and wing it the other days. Luckily we have a Bubba Gump Shrimp near us in New Orleans so if we miss that it won't be a tragedy:)

WOW! That menu looks entirely different than what I was imagining. I was picturing a Chuck E. Cheese type restaurant with all basketball goals:lmao: Yes, I'm fully aware I have a wild imagination at times. HA!

Thank you again!
