I am so excited!! I got an emergency shop last night that paid $40!! How awesome is that? For a free, quick meal I made that much! I also got in $20 worth of checks from an opinion/survey panel I belong to. I have been reading everyone's posts stating that they make some money doing that stuff and now I can finally say that I've made some, too!! YeeHaw! Thanks for all of your info on here. And, to help anyone interested, the shop site I used to get that big shop was www.cybershoppersonline.com- now y'all go sign up and make some Disney Money!!

Hey thanks!! I just went & signed up!

How complicated was your first mystery shopping experience? Did it take a long time? Anything I need to be aware of? I've never mystery shopped before! :)

I did this for a while, too, through a firm in Canada whose major client was McDonalds. I did some secret shops at Arbys and cell phone companies for them too. The money wasn't big, but it was fun and provided some extra $$. But be aware that many of the secret shopper firms will make you read material and take a test (McDonald's was big on that) and that you must fill out LONG forms with your results. We had to take lots of timings at McDonalds without letting them notice what we were doing, and they had to be exact down to the second. My husband and I did it as a team to make it easier.
Also, it was very competitive to get the best assignments. You basically had to be online and grab them the minute they were released each month.

If anyone's interested in mystery shopping, a good website to visit is www.volition.com They have a list of mystery shopping companies to apply with. There are also message boards which are helpful in finding out which companies are good and which to stay away from.

From what I can tell, you are paid as an independent contractor and will be subject to all those wonderful taxes that involves (I worked as an ind. once and found I had to pay social security and all that other junk as well).

Is it still worth it in the end? Or is the answer "it all depends?" hehehehehehehe

I have been looking into this and I applied at a few places and recieved e-mails asking for my social security number which made me very nervous. Is there a "Better Business Bureau" for these sort of companies?

Ok, I'm in the middle of signing up for the OP's MS company, and they are asking for my social security number. I'm worried whether I should do this now or not? Any thoughts??? Help!

Ok I signed up and it says no visits available in my area... I wrote down below 2 more addresses to consider me for... Is this going to make me available to those cities or just the address I listed...? Sorry its a bit confusing for me... how long before you got your first assignment? Thanks ! I signed up at :www.cybershoppersonline.com
