Mystery fireworks going off right now..near Hollywood Studios

I am at the Coranado Springs hotel, it's 11:05 PM. Fireworks have been going off in the vicinity of Hollywood Studios for the past half hour. The staff here, security included, has no idea what's going on. They are going off very slowly, just one, then a pause, then another, then a pause, and repeat. It's been over a half hour now of this.

Anyone have any guesses about what's happening? Ours is they are testing new items.

We are staying at AK Kadani and have been listening to them for about an hour now! We hear the same .... one at a time. Our thoughts were also that they are testing.

They may be running through Jingle Bell Jingle Bam - that begins on the 9th.

They may need to be testing it now because the Holiday Specials tape from the 3rd through the 7th.

Running through? So just testing one after another in slow succession?

It's 11:30 now, they are still being launched.

Yes. The pyro guys have to assess exactly what is happening especially if they are programming new elements into the show. It’s only the 2nd year for JBJB.

Yeah testing can be a slow, arduous process. In the last few tests, they probably do a full run-through of the show with all of the elements in real time.

But earlier on, they're running short sequences, pausing, making adjustments. Did that one effect go off in the timing we wanted it? Can we have it a second earlier to hit that third note in the song? Okay let's run it again, just that section. Okay, hold on... the fifth shell is coming in just a little late. Let's see what's going on with it by going through the cues one-by-one. Larry, can I see the show notes from last night? I want to make sure we covered off all the changes we wanted to make.

A friend of mine has been working on something til 4am at WDW. Could be whatever he's been rehearsing for, of which I have to clue.

Between the filming and Christmas stuff, from now until about the 9th, MK, Epcot, DHS, DS and the resorts will be beehives of activity after closing.

Yeah, they gotta rehearse/test them somehow. Can't exactly simulate a test for the fireworks, it's gotta be live. So it's after hours. Happens a lot really, ask folks who stay at CR often
