over 70 kids ended up with this rash. They closed the school today (7th and 8th grades) so crews could come in and clean up. Well, the rash has spread to the High school kids and the school my DD goes to (5th and 6th grades).

I have heard nothing new about it. I made sure I got benadryl before I left work today. I hope we don't get it.

We've had a strange rash here also. One physician said it was poision ivy(in the snow in January??) I thought it looked like Scarlet Fever. Our doctor said it did look like just like Scarlet Fever, but the strep test was negative. What does your strange rash look like?? It has baffled the doctors here.

I have only seen one girl and her chest was very, very red and her face was itchy. I didn't think of Scarlet fever. I will have to watch her tongue also. So far a few of my DD's friends have kept it to themselves. I will let you know when I hear more. Where are you from my3kids?

My sister had gotten a note home from school saying a child in her DS's class had scarlet fever. This was about a week or so ago and so far my nephew has been fine. I thought scarlet fever was gone, maybe it's making a come back, but I don't think it's as serious as it used to be. The doctors are able to treat it a lot better now.
This was in CT by the way.

We had huge rumors about Scabies in our school! It turned out to be 2 kids in the same family that actually were infected, but there were so many rumors a letter had to be sent home to all of our students about symptoms, etc. And this is a high school!

Could it be Fifth's disease? We just got a notice home that there was a child in our elementary school with it. It causes a red lacy rash on the face and then a rash on the torso.

My first thought was fifth disease. My kids had it when they were young and that's what it looks like. It went through the element. school pretty fast.

If it is fifth disease once the rash appears you are no longer contagious. I got a note sent home 2 weeks ago from our school saying my kids may have been exposed to it but so far so good for us.

I've never heard of fifth's disease. I'll have to look that up. Thanks.

My kids had Fifth's Disease 3 or 4 years ago... besides the fever and rash they did okay. Then I got it........ EVERY joint in my body hurt.... hurt to move at all, hurt to talk.... also Fifth's disease is VERY dangerous to women in the early stages of pregnancy I believe.
