So we are off next week for holiday's and have thought what can we do??? Well we have never been spur of the moment people, I need to plan and research things to death before we go. But last night we decided to go to Myrtle Beach. :cool1: Well we have never been there and I am nervous about not knowing anything about the hotels or locations of anything.:confused3
If you have been there and have any advice I would REALLY appreciate it. Thanks for any advice in advance.

We went to Myrtle Beach a couple of years ago after my daughter was born and had a great time! We rented a beach condo from a neighbor so I do not know much about the hotels other than the new ones all seem to have great pools and mini-water parks.

Broadway at the Beach (http://www.broadwayatthebeach.com/) has tons to do and their on-line vacation guide is actually really good as well.

The surf where we were was very gentle and the water had a very shallow grade, allowing for the kids to go in and wade and play for quite a bit before it got too deep.

Have a great vacation!

Normally in the summer MB is packed to the rafters. The beach strip is like afternoon rush hour all day long. I think this summer might be a little different because the US economy is so bad and it is much worse in the southern states.

The beach itself is beautiful and there are a ton of hotels. I recommend using tripadvisor to get an idea about the hotels. With tripadvisor try to weed out the unreasonable complaints from the real ones. After you read a bunch of reviews you can usually figure out what's what. Anyway, there are so many hotels there that if you book one and don't like it you can move someplace else.

There are lots of shows and attractions. Also, lots of shopping. There are great restaurants in both north and south. We like the calabash seafood places in north MB.

It is true that at this time of the year Myrtle Beach is packed. I have sent many of my clients to the Dunes Village Resort (just had someone come back actually last week) http://www.dunesvillage.com/

Everyone I have sent just love the resort and it has its own water park. Unfortunately at this time of year the pricing is much higher everywhere. Hope you have a great time!

We stayed at the Dunes Village Resort last year. Its location is great and I recommend it. We also went to Hard Rock Park, which is now called, Freestyle Music Park. We enjoyed it a lot. Make sure you stay for the fireworks. Broadway on the Beach is fun. There is a nice aquarium and a Magiquest as well as many shops and restaurants.

The economy has not affected Myrtle Beach tourism much - I was there two weekends ago and it was mobbed. There's always tons of tourist traffic so be prepared for that if you go in the summer. There are lots of miniature golf courses, seafood restaurants, and discount beachware stores, if that's what you are looking for. The beach is nice but crowded with high rise condos. If you like that very busy atmosphere, you will love Myrtle Beach. (I personally prefer the calmer side of the south further down the coast in Charleston!)

We were there last Sept. It's ok, the strip reminds me of Clifton Hill in Niagara Falls for some reason. It's not my type of vacation spot & wouldn't return, but it's nice enough. We flew with Myrtle Beach Air (Direct Air) out of Niagara Falls & it was awful, would NOT fly with them again.
