Myrtle Beach to Hilton Head

Has anyone driven this before? It looks to be 149 miles yet it says it will take 4 hours. Not the way I drive! lol I am wondering if it is a lot of two lane roads? The airfare is $200 less per ticket flying into Myrtle Beach then Savannah. Thanks for any info you can provide.

I haven't driven from Myrtle Beach, but I have driven from Charleston and it IS a lot of two-lane roads. So even a lead foot might not help much.

But it is a beautiful drive, if that helps any...

We drove from Hilton Head to Myrtle Beach on August 15 and it took us about four hours on that Friday. We took US-17 instead of I-95 since the AAA said it was about the same time either route,although I know the average speed on I-95 is 80 mph and they didn't take that in to account. But there was a lot of scenery along the route we took. It was enjoyable for a first time trip,something new to see. There is a lot of traffic on US-17 and its only a divided two lane( in each direction) road that goes through the middle of many small towns, so I don't think you could make very good time with all the obstacles. Probably your best bet would be to get on I-95 from Myrtle Beach but thats about a 55 mile (hour and a half) trip in itself.

We live on Hilton Head...

My wife and I recently took a trip up to NY. It took us approx. 3 hours to get from our house to Florence. So figure however long it takes you to get there and add 3 hours to that.

Sabrina (my wife) says it took her just over 3.5 hours the last time she went to MB.

Hilton Head to Myrtle will take you approx. 4 hours - it is mostly 2 lanes all the way.

When we stayed in HH (loved it!!!!!) we flew into HH and drove to Myrtle and flew out of Myrtle.
