MyPoints Question

I was wondering...how many of you sign up for some of the "free trials" offered on mypoints and cancel just to get the points? I've done this a couple of times with AOL, but I've never signed up for other free trials before today. I just signed up for the consumerinfo.com free trial and free credit report.

The email I received says "I'll get 250 Points for requesting my Free Credit Report. I'll be under no obligation, and I'll get 5 Points for reading this message and visiting consumerinfo.com."

Of course, to get the free credit report, you have to sign up for the free trial. So...how long should I wait before I cancel the free trial. I do not want to be charged $79.95 (or whatever the yearly fee is)! I personally don't find anything that says I have to use the free trial in order to receive the 250 points, so why can't I just cancel this thing tomorrow? What do you all think? If I cancal ASAP, will I most likely never see the 250 points?

I've done *most* of them, and haven't ever missed out on points (had to nag Mypoints a time or two), and haven't ever gotten charged for anything (except the trial period amount).
You should keep track of them of course, and cancel before you get charged.

P.S. aside from the points, I've gotten a $50 savings bond, $25 gift cards from Blockbuster, and some other gift cards. Well worth it in my opinion.

I did have trouble once or twice when it was only a 30 day trial - not getting the points, but getting the freebie. Sometimes you are required to send back a postcard to get your reward, and a few times I have had to cancel before receiving the $25 gift card, then call the place to nag them for the card.
