I don't think it is linked to any one program, although I am a member of SR as well as a bunch of other programs. After discussing it with many people on the internet, we believe what is happening is that when you complete the freebie offers on other rewards sites (offers with lots of yes/no type questions that you complete for 25 cents to $1 usually), sometimes they are signing you up for another mypoints account without your knowledge and without confirming another mypoints account. I know that after completing some of the freebie offers, I've received an email from mypoints that states something about 'thank you for your interest in mypoints, click here to confirm your account'. I have NEVER intentionally signed up for another mypoints account and ALSO steer clear of it when it is mentioned as a suboffer in other offers I complete. However, I still receive these emails from them. I figured that as long as I didn't confirm another account that it would be fine since I didn't ask for it and didn't confirm it. There is obviously a glitch in their marketing and they could care less. Essentially, they are stealing our information and signing people up with accounts with them without our knowledge. What really gets my goat is that in the final email that I received from them, it states something about 'you are hereby banned from the MyPoints Program, and any attempt on your part to enroll again may result in further action on our part'. THEY steal MY info from another site AGAINST my knowledge and then threaten that further action may be taken against ME?!??!? Unreal.
